Tomorrow i'm switching over from my dual 7" stacks to a single 7" stack. Last winter i ran a single 6" stack at cab level and that sucker was ear drum bleading loud!!! This time i'm gonna run it a little above the cab but i highly doubt that will make any difference. My question is...does anyone have experience with the internal drop in stack mufflers? I've been doing some reading and can't really find anyone with first hand experience. They also seem to be reasonably priced. Any input would be appreciated and here are a couple links

I have one in my 6" miter cab high stack. It does a little to quiet it down. But don't expect it to be quiet. It will just be a little less LOUD!

The one I ordered for the 5,6 and 7 inch stacks has a 5 inch flare on the bottom and is 4" diameter. I just drop mine in the stack and it drop into the 5 to 6" adapter and kind of wedges in in the center. Easy enough to put in and take out. For the price every little bit helps.

you running a muffler or resonator under the truck? I have 8" miters and mine are pretty reasonable with a 5" in/out 24" long resonator

 

no sir, i'm not running anything right now, maybe i should go the same route that you've gone. i used to love how loud the stacks were, but i must be getting old or something because the noise is starting to get annoying.

 

I have an Aero Turbine 5050XL under mine and it is still irritating in the cab. It sounds great outside. Sometimes it is not too bad and then sometimes it is just murder. I can deal with it ok, but don't have a lot of people asking for a ride lately. LOL

 

I ran those drop in stack mufflers. A total waste of money in my opinion.The slight noise drop is not worth the cost.If you think that single 6 was loud just wait till you get that 7 on there.I swear the noise goes up 2 fold for every inch increase in stack diameter!LOL

 

i was planning on switching over to a single 7 like 53 ****** setup on his mega(r.i.p) sorry still sad to see it go. But im running an mbrp muffler, no cat, and was thinking of running a resonator to keep it mellow enough to drive. it my daily driver so i dont want it to loud. i really like the sound its got now but hunting and taking to the crawler to the rocks kinda tries to beat my tailpipe up. i saw where hushpower makes resonators for a pretty good price. may be worth it to look into for your setup as well.

thanks for the replies guys. i changed the stack out yesterday and put the tip about 6in above the cab. i don't know if doing that help or what, but it seems to be considerably quieter that the 6in stack that i ran at cab level last year. i still don't have much seat time with the new setup, but so far it's not bothering me too much

 

i finally installed a hush power 5" muffler and it definitely helped. just a thought.

 

i hate to say it but i have a ford resinator under mine. with 6in miters about 6in above the cab. its so mellow and deep. if i put my windows up with the radio on i dont hear it.

 

I started making my truck quieter over a yr ago. Started by using a Flo_pro Twister race muffler. Toned it down a little but drone was still an issue and the truck was still loud enough, so a few months ago I added a second Flo-Pro to the equation. One of them is all the way forward at the downpipe and the other is all the way back before the flex pipe. I love the sound now, IMO it sounds as good as it gets for me, and I can't complain...

You get them thru summit or jegs?? Compare the price from what you paid and let me know if you could of saved or if you did get them cheaper. I'm just curious. Have a good one.
