Installing new Pacbrake

OK I've got all the bolt in stuff done after making several "adjustments" to the kit for airline connections and such.

Any tips, tricks or warnings on the ECM connection?

Just make sure the batteries are disconnected so you don't short anything out. That's about it.

The ECM connection is pretty simple, just kind of tough to reach and see.

I did my ECM wiring from the top side. Count the pins several times to make sure you are getting the right one. I pulled the little plug with a pair of forcepts, needle nose will work just fine. The wiring pin will slip in easily, make sure it snaps into it's lock, test by pulling back some, you will feel the resistance.

I didn't disconnect the batteries, nothing is hot when the key is off.

I did the wiring from the top side as well. My biggest problem was my 2Mic filter being in the way.

I guess if nothing's hot with the key off. Disconnecting the batteries isn't needed. I didn't know when I was doing it, so I disconnected mine.

OK the ECM wires were easy. Now the power wire for ignition power does not match the pin nunber for my mid 2005. Says B4 in the instructions but that's not right on my truck

From what I can tell the Pink with gray trace is B13 on my truck not B4. Lookng for my test light now to see if this is an ignition switched wire.

All done. Test run was perfect. Can't wait to tow the fifth wheel in 2 weeks and really test it out.

Nice kit but a lot of tinkering to get it just right. Solinoid was upside down and hit the hood (good thing I test fit everything before I shut the hood)Instructions are fair at best but I'm pretty picky about what goes in my truck and how. Can't stand to have add on's look sloppy.

Good deal. I miss the exhaust brake in my old truck. Once I get the money I'll be putting a Pacbrake on the 06.

Pac Brake install

Very nice pictures of the compressor end of the install, excellent job, but what about some pics and advice on the exhaust end of the deal?

Was that part difficult?

What's the little "Green Filter" looking thing hanging down from the compressor outlet?

I don't know, but I'm guessing that's the pressure switch to kick the compressor on.

Just below the black solinoid at the front of the unit by the rad there are 2 black wires that go into the silver metal solidoind switch. Do yourself a favor and run a piece of electrical tape around the silver switch and the wires where they go in. Over time, the pump and motor vibration managed to weaken the wires right where they go into the switch and eventually one broke off with the other not far behind. Disables the brake. The good folks at Pac replaced it for me, but it would have sucked to lose the brake at the wrong time. Ounce of prevention.

Sorry to hijack, but I thought we should not add these to the 05s + or -? Weren't they not approved until 06+ or something?

Green part is a solinoid.Had to turn it down away from hood for better clearance versus the way it was assembled as shipped.

As for not on "05" they were available with an optional factorty jacobs exhast brake so don't know any reason an "05" can't have an exhast brake.

The turbow end was the easiest and fastest part. I took out the inner fender and left the whell on since I have a 2" spacer kit in the front and it's fwd.

Nice job. Been using mine for a couple years, you won't be disappointed. The green part is the pressure switch ~130psi. The black part in front of compressor will be the solenoid. Orginal placement had it on the tank and in winter mine would freeze up occasionally because of mositure build up. I now have it up top also. I am surprised that the compressor is stilled mounted on the engine block as the updated instructions show it being mounted under the air box on the front corner.
