installing F.A.S.S. 150?
just got my f.a.s.s. 150 gph yesterday is there something that any of you that ran into a problem installing these? ive heard since i got the 150 i need to drop the tank, is this true? also how can i measure the PSI and what do i not want to fall under? thanks
I only had one problem with mine -- There's a small o-ring where the factory lift pump connects to the filter housing. Don't lose it!!! Mine fell out and I didn't realize it until after the install. Luckily, I found it an installed it.
Do you have the full FASS 150, or just the pump? I have the pump only. I didn't have to drop the tank on my truck. The clips for the fuel line on top of the tank are accessible from the driver side wheel well. You might also be able to get between the drive shaft and exhaust to get to it from under the truck depending on how big you are and the type of exhaust you have -- You can actually see the connector from either of those two places.
Pumps vary -- my factory pump was about 6 - 7 psi. The FASS maxes out my 15psi gauge. Pushing hard at WOT, my needle barely moves at all. The FASS 150 should be able to flow all the fuel you'll need.
I used a Geno's banjo bolt to hook up a permenant sending unit and gauge. There is also a replacement filter cap available with a fuel line fitting built-in.
Good luck!

Some guys drop the tank to install the bigger pickup tube which quiets the 150gph pump down quite a bit (I've read). The biggest problems I had were in trying to install it where they recommend which is right under the filler tube. I moved back one rail and it was much easier. Also, the factory LP is held on w/ allen head bolts and you really need allen head sockets. I had to do mine with regular allen wrenches and it took me about a half hour just to get that off. Other than that it's pretty simple. Make sure you put some fuel on the fuel lines before you try to put them on the fittings. It's a very tight fit and the fuel helps them slide on easier. They don't give you hoseclamps and I had a hard time believing that the hose would stay on there but I don't think that hose will ever come off without cutting it......
