Thumbs up Installed an S&B Intake on my truck yesterday.

Everything went together really well, and it appears to be a quality part. And it sure makes the turbo noticeable. The only thing I don't like is I can hear the whoosh of the air as its sucked in. Its not real loud, just louder than I'd like. But I think the truck is getting plenty of air now.

Talking

Is your silencing ring MIA. Mine sounded close to stock with the ring in, I quickly removed it, I like the F-18 sound. It is alot of fun when you leave an intersection next to a souped up Civic and they look over to see what is "taking off" next to them.

Silencer ring is long gone. I love the sound of the turbo, just hate to hear the sucking on the intake. But its not bad, and the added flow and turbo noise makes it worth it.

I thought the same thing but you will get used to it real quick. Gave my boss a ride in it today after getting the quad stuff installed and all he could say is "how can I get my d-max to sound like that"

After I got into the go pedal he really didn't say much after that.

I got mine off eBay new for $175 shipped. Price was a big reason I went with the S&B.

Which one did you get Paul? I think there is a new and an old version. Does yours have the big plastic tab that goes over the top of the core support just like the OE box? Or is it the one that has you use an open threaded hole on the inside with a grommet..

Same one as you...

The only thing I didn't like was the load hanging sideways off that grommet, so bend/drilled/added an aluminum support that hangs the box there. The stock setup is most likely fine, but I knew my truck would see quite a bit of abuse, so I did that just in case.

Didn't your bolt through the bottom also? I almost didn't do the bolt through the side 'cause once I snugged the bottom bolts it didn't budge.

ah so you didnt do the bults in the wheel well? i did those first, then did the bolt that goes near the radiator support. worked fine. you cant get the bolt ned the radiator to tighten as much as you would like, i snugged mine up to no end and its fine.
