Went to the track tonight,.....and broke something in the tranny. had to get flatbedded back home. My guess is i sheered the bolts off the TQ. It happened right as i hit the lock up going down the track. It didnt lock up right away and i sprayed NO2 at the same time....and no go after that.

What happened when you put the tranny in park? Were your shafts billet?

in park, it parks. yeah i have a billet input, and output. if it was the intermediate, i would still have reverse, right? i thinks that what dusty told me. there was one point where all the gear indicator lights were selected for a split second while i was going thru them trying to find a gear that might work. i dont know what that was about tho.

Wow, sorry to hear this. It sounds weird how it happened, so you were already flying down the track and it broke when you hit the juice?

ouch.. sorry to hear.

lock-up switch = bad news !! any tranny will only last so long using one.

I doubt you took out the TQ bolts. Most likely you twisted the splines on one of your shafts or snapped it completely. You really need a intermediate to doing boost launches too. If it goes out... it will take a lot of your tranny out with it.

Yeh, I would have to agree with Ty. It sounds like more than converter bolts. Good luck with it. I hope you got it fixed before the weekend. I know you had big plans.

Well it may not of been the lock up switch that killed it. He said it took a second before it locked up and sprayed it at the same time. So it was the power of the motor n/a and the nitrous and the lock up hitting it all at once!!

I'm betting output....It's usually the only one to go quietly.

A billet input failure usually makes an ugly (expensive) sound.
I was shocked when I got back my "billet" shafts from my transmission "core".....I was living on borrowed time as they were both about to let go!

If your serious about drag racing you might consider an Ultimate with Opie's fat shafts.

Here's mine.

I heard from a reliable source that someone had one of those big bad opie trannies break in 3 days, so everything can break but if its under warranty I bet you dusty will make it right.

well i got it flatbedded to the shop, and i was surprised to find out that the truck would move on its own! not very fast tho. when i put it in drive and got the engine rpms up, it would creep forward. same thing for reverse!

What does that mean? possibly the TC is shot?
