I have a Smarty set at 90 HP, it's been on my 48re for about 8 months. I was told that was the maximum for a stock trans. I'm not sure if I drive like a normal person, I suspect not, my mileage last tank was 13.4 MPG (and there is nothing but a shell on the truck, it's pretty empty)

I am running the Smarty level 3 (60 HP) and while towing the TC began o slip. They say 90 is the max for a stock tranny but watch it. If you are just jumping on it and racing around town you may not notice it slipping even if it is, but towing with a steady load you'll notice, while locked, the RPM will climb at full power. Be careful or you'll burn it up. Better get a new TC.

Engine is de-tuned to a level that insures a long happy life for the rest of the drivetrain (converter, trans, rear gear). Giving to one (increasing engine output), takes away from the other (decreased trans life).

Must not drive like a normal person. My mileage on this last tank hand calc'd was 13.81. And that is with the worst combo that you can get, a 4x4 DRW auto with 4.10 gears. And driving about 14 miles a day to work and back to home.
