How to update my smarty

I have a smarty s06 pod on my 03 im wanting to update it.Do I need to put it back to stock before update it.

No you can update the handheld without setting the truck back. Form the FAQ section on the MADS site------------>

Q. Can Smarty go from one program to another, or do you have to go back to stock, then to a program?

A. You can go from any software # to any SW #. No need to go back to stock!

But you still do not need to go back to stock for updates either. The Smarty saves your original ECM program, and that is not affected by updating the program software version. (5.14 to 5.14b for example on the Jr.)
