How to test tranny probe for commander?
How to test tranny probe for commander?
Well EGT, boost and coolant work, but I don’t have tranny temp. I’m pretty sure it’s enabled in the menu.
So I’m thinking wire/connection point or thermocouple probe.
Now my buddy put the diesel manor line in, then I snaked the probe lead down and over to him. While taking nuts/washers off the probe he dropped them. Said he got everything picked up and proceeded hook up the lead.
Now I haven’t crawled under there to look yet, will do it after work. But looking at the install pic from the brochure it looks like there’s a funky washer on the probe, is that some kind of insulator. If so, maybe he missed it when pciking up the nuts & washers for the probe. I’m thinking maybe since the probe must ground itself since there’s only one wire to it. Also I think he Teflon taped it in. Might this be a problem?
Is there a simple way to test the probe while still installed in the line after driving up to temperature, or yank it, hook the Fluke to it and heat it with a lighter?
If I eliminate the probe as bad, I'll go to the wire next...
TIA, T

twlunn, I just installed the Commander in my truck and I know the funny washer your talking about and I believe you should put that washer on the probe first then the elect. wire then coper washer and nut. As you said, I believe it is a insulate washer so the electrical connection won't be grounded out on the probe, where the body of the probe is grounded.
