how much fuel?

What is the max Gallons Per Hour A 2004.5 can consume? Mark at TST told me on the dyno, the CP3 was running out of fuel and the 95 GPH fass was still supplying 14 lbs of pressure. When the TST was making its highest power levels. How many GPH does the Knockout provide? Is the fass 150 GPH overkill, Mark seemed to think so. Why circulate all that extra fuel if the pump can't deliver it? To go one step further How much Fuel can a modded CP3 feed the beast??

Whaaaaaaaaa....somebody deleted the thread I was posting on...all that typing gone. [sigh]

Your findings with Mark substantiate what I have learned.

Pressure does not always mean adequate volume or gph.

My Essex pump testing unveiled that running at 10 psi at idle and having it drop to 7 psi at WOT is/was giving me right around 110 gph.

I am going to use the Superduty bypass as well...

Since I had some problems with the CP3, the dealer insisted we put their intank assembly in and take off my pusher pump. Now I will put a bottom pick up 1/2" to the Essex and bypass the factory pump completely. I may even turn the psi down to 8. I am using two of my tapped fittings with 1/4" braided hose for the Superduty bypass.

I hear ya

The typing can be the most frustrating part , when you do it in vane. My latest venture is the Weldon 2005 pump with 15 pound regulator. It will provide about 95 GPH at 8 lbs. I cant see moveing any more fuel around if you cant use it. doug

one good rerason for the extra fuel is lubrication,if the cp3 drops psi then it losing some internal lubrication.i am jjust running a holley blue ,did have it in a parrallel series with the stocker but after the new injects went in i dropped the stocker all together.as far as cp3 mods, there are still more to be released but in my opinion none of the current ones are wrth the money.if one kind find the right stack setup or a great programmer to do 1 extreme tune,i think the max hpcan be obtained.the only reason i went bigger injects was to flow more fuel and not overcharge the rail

Fuel

The extra fuel just gets returned back to the tank , causing heat . I want enough fuel but not to much. Full blown street daily driver truck sees 90% normal driving. From what I learned, you have to supply the CP3 with fuel not maintain pressure. With all pumps when pressure goes up GPH goes down. pressure also creates heat .So a low pressure high volume system is whats needed. I increased the pick up tube size to 1/2 inch & the fuel supply line to 1/2 all the way to the pump. The same CP3 is used in the duramax has no supply pump. Its capable of supplying its own fuel, but will starve if trying to pull though dead lift pump or a under sized pump.
But still the question if 600 hp is my goal how many GPH will the CP3 consume ?
