This isn't boding well cause I always swore I'd never bomb my truck

Installed the "whistler" today. I needed an intake to swap out while I clean the Scotty III, so I figured I'd try the "whistler". I can say it's a bit louder than the Scotty.
On a scale of 1 - 10. Stock - 1 , Scotty with silencer and baffles - 3, w/o silencer and baffles - 5, whistler w/o silencer and baffles - 7.
I tried a 5.5" to 5" elbow and a 5" to 4" insert for the turbo and also tried to cut the elbow to size but there's not a lot of room to wiggle it in. I'll try again when I change the oil filter, I'll have a little more room then.
I didn't bother with the filter minder and the IAT sensor is so snug on the rubber elbow, it really doesn't need to be bolted down. But better safe than sorry.
Thanks for the blueprints 53 ****** and thanks to the rest for your ideas and input.
You gotta love this place.

it's always good to get some comparisons of other intakes.I got some more parts in the mail this last week and I should get the rest this next week so stay tuned for stage II whistler..
I'm going a different route then I explained before......
I left the minder off mine too and that 1/2 hole must've only been about .425 in reality cause I had a heck of a time getting the IAT sensor all the way down flush. I can't wait to see the stage II whistler and also can't wait to get my new exhaust on there next weekend

Rubber boot mount. Forcing the IAT sensor into a .425 hole in aluminum would not be a very pretty site.
Anyhow, when you drill the rubber with a 1/2 inch drill I guess the rubber sort of expands or pushes away from the bit as its cutting the end result being the hole is actually smaller. I wish I had a tig welder so I could've done it like yours.

I have found that in my line of work (Project Superintendent) I need the enclosed stock box to keep from having to clean the filter weekly.
If anyone here wants my setup I will ship it to them if they pay for the shipping only. I think pics of mine are on page 10 or 11

...as much as a AFE II anyways.I will post the pre filter number as soon as I find out what it is
I still need to call them.
is your filter minder sucking down? dust clogging the filter? is dirt getting through?? seems Really fast to clog a filter????
Dirt is just covering the filter, I drive in sand/dry soil everyday (unless it rains), the intake works great as you know, but cleaning the filter that much is a pain. It's not your design, if I had any aftermarket assembly I'd have this problem.
I ordered 4" elbows and tubing to run 4" diameter tubing to the stock box. I'll lose some whistle
, but maintanance will be better.
