Hitch Cover to protect other cars during rear-ending
The thought of driving uninsured just blows my mind. My ex-brother-in-law gave me his car to use one weekend while my sister and him used my car (re. road worthy because I look after my stuff) to go to their parents place. I did not find out there was no insurance on it until after they got back (license plates were valid). I was LIVID and tore a strip off both of them for not telling me there was no insurance. If I had known, I would have just used my bike to get to there I needed to go that weekend. I should have known something was up when it had a screwdriver for the signal light stick.
Up here, if you have a valid license plate, you have insurance.

LOL! I keep my drop hitch on the back of my truck for just the opposite reason. It definitely keeps people from tailgating me.....
Sorry I can't help you find what you are looking for. I have never seen one of those before on a regular pickup truck.....
A backup alarm is a good idea too

Sure glad your OK pull-do. Man those Texas drivers are a bad bunch!
I had a simular rearend a few years back. The body shop told me my hitch kept her from doing a lot more damage to my truck. Her camry was totaled though.

I used to have a nice LED lit hitch cover with the Dodge Ram emblem. Then some idiot in a parking lot hit it and cracked it and dented my bumper. Of coarse he/she didn't bother to try and make things right, they just left the scene. So now I keep this in my hitch unless I'm towing the camper.

one option
This is a bit expensive, but seems to do what you are looking for.
It takes two parts, first the crash protections
http://www.superbumper.com/
the superbumper looks rather nice. step and bumper. Lifetime replacement if damaged.
the other is a lower hitch position
this lowers the hitch location 8 inches
