HID bulb kits work excellent. I got my kit from Xtra Lights; the kit I bought is the Xetronic H13 8000K High/Low kit. It has the ballasts, igniters, bulbs, and the correct plugs to plug in. All you need other than that is a relay harness. On the 02-05 models you needed the relay harness or resistors to keep the light out indicator from illuminating on your gauge cluster. On the 06-07 models you need the relay harness to keep from frying your switch. The wiring is a bit different and if you simply plug them in they will fry the multi-function switch on the steering column. That's what happened with mine. Here is a link to where I got mine:

The kit is quite pricey at $499 with the high/low option but I love it. It is a true high/low HID kit. The ballasts have integrated "potentiometers" that vary the wattage going to the bulbs so that you actually have highs and lows. The result is a kit that doesn't blind everyone when the lows are on, but it is extrremely bright when the highs are illuminated.
I'm not trying to hijack your thread, but I am selling my kit as of now. I've had some unexpected expenses recently and I need a little extra cash. My kit is 1/2 a year old and I can sell it to you for an awesome price. Contact me for more info if you are interested.....

Yes; you will have to purchase a relay kit no matter which setup you go with. I have talked with guys that say they run HID's on the newer trucks with no relay harness and have yet to have a problem, but I fried my switch. Luckily my dealer is pretty mod-friendly and replaced the switch free of charge.
Rarely any of the kits have the relay built in or included (I do think there are a couple though). I think the realy harness is anywhere from $20-50 depending on where you buy it. Just google HID harness. You should find plenty of results.

They most definately give you more light and the night look is incredible. You would not believe how much better your visibility will be if you ever get a set.
Here is a pic of the kit in my truck at nighttime:

The lights look extremely blue when viewed from this angle, but they are not near as blue on the surroundings when viewed from the driver's seat.

Yep they work great too from what I hear. I don't think I have heard of too many people having problems. I think I have read where a few different guys had trouble with them because they mounted the ballasts/igniters in a positon that allowed heavy moisture onto them. They shorted out because of the moisture. I think that is the single issue that makes the difference between an expensive kit and a lesser expensive kit; one is waterproof and one is not. For the most part, they all work just fine though.
