MPI makes a awesome set-up for stocker use. HTT and II both use the s-300 type turbo so its pretty much just pick your brand. Unless you want stainless exhaust, them HTT. I have a 62/71/14 and it sounds just like you describe. I would recommend this turbo to anyone, it works great and will support 600 or so HP.
There are a couple of other guys modding the s-300 and you can pick them up for 1100 or so. If you have the dough, there is no replacement for a good set of compounds. Other than that, any 62/71/13ss, 62/71/14 or if you need stock like spooling a 62/65/13ss. The bigger you can go on the exhaust, the better but it does for high end power but it does increase lag.
