Help with nerf bar/step install??

One of my coworkers bought a 05 quad cab and picked up a set of nerf bar/steps for it new used? The install shows brackets going to the body/cab mounts only. He mentioned DC sold some kinda HD bracket that was adaptable to then. It would seem to me simply putting them to the cab/frame mounts would give you a setup that when stepped on would make it drop down a bunch due to the rubbers. all of the nerf type bars ive seen mounted directly to the frame. If some HD brackets were fabbed up and the frame drilled will this void DC`s warranty?
Thanks a bunch.

Are you sure he got the right set and one that is for the Dodge application? Every one I installed (13) I never had to drill. It was all bolt on, and no, you do not want to drill into the frame, and yes, it's bad for the frame. I'd check if this set is for the Dodge. If it still is, I wouldn't even bother with them. I'd find a more reputable set. That's my take.

The actual reccomended install is to bolt the brackets between the body to cab mounts. It would seem this would make for a awfully flexy mount when stepped on due to the rubbers softness.

You remove the rubbers, and the mount goes into the hole where the rubber was. Hope this helps.

There is a link with pics of how they should install (all I have seen go on just like this).

Also, make sure you use the correct grade of cab mount bolts, they should be 10.9 (metric grade).
