Help me decide on a turbo...want to buy TOMORROW 12/29!
About the spoolin of the htb2s ( I dont know much about the sps)
It is my understanding that the super stock (71mm wheel and 14 cm housing) is supposed to spool slower than the htb2 62/12 but faster than the htb2 62/14. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.
dzilla04, I forgot about the sound, that is one thing to look forward to and I can say without a doubt that the sps 62/14 sounds wicked.
I dont know if the sivler 62 would be a good choise as it was designed more for nitrous.

Thanks for all the replies. It seems like the newer quick spool style turbine turbos are the way to go, SPS 62/14 and HT Superstock 62/14. The majority votes for the SPS.
I found a place with great prices on HT turbos, but they don't sell II turbos. Anyone suggest a good place to buy, or would II provide any sort of discount off retail buying direct?

Well, it seems to be decided. I spoke with Brandon at II for quite some time about the SPS and new Silver 62. He said the silver 62 is the same as the SPS but with an additional blade on the turbine wheel which aids in a slightly faster spool over the SPS 62/14. It's a hefty $400 roughly more than the SPS, but also has a polished compressor housing. I think that plus the ATS manifold will be a GREAT combo....just not that cheap of a combo
Actually, I set up a dealer account with them. The truck is my work horse for my business, and Brandon was cool to set up an account for the purchase for my company vehicle. I might end up trying to resell the parts in the future. I've always wanted to get into the diesel market
I would have loved some twins, but I feel (and hope) that I bought the best "street" single available, especially with the ATS manifold.
Please keep us posted. I have not talked to II directly but I THOUGHT the silver was geared more towards the nitorous boys. I guess maybe I should just give em a call.
Sounds like the perfect turbo to me. 62/12 bottom end and 62/14 top end, its a win win situation.
congrats.

All in all, after everything, I think my total ended up being around $2300. I'll post back about the initial results once it's on. I am hoping to have some dyno time within a couple weeks after the install.
I also ordered up an MP-8 to throw on with the Smarty. I am hoping to see over 500 HP and over 1000 TQ, but won't be too disappointed if it comes in under.
