What are your thoughts on that turbo for a drop in ? And what all should I need with it other then the solenoid block off plug..

just trying to find the best turbo for my daily, I don’t tow much but I do tow occasionally iv look at the stealth 64mm but read a lot of problems I just want to do this once and be happy … sorta lol

 

My OE turbo started to leak oil into the intake, so needed a replacement. Have 235,000 miles on it. I live south of the US border, so my replacement options were limited, mainly due to exorbitant shipping and duty costs. Took a chance and bought a turbo from my local Autozone. They offered two models, one slightly cheaper than the other, but opted for the most expensive one. They did not have it in stock and it took them 4 days to obtain one for me. They also took my core and refunded some money. Not a bad deal, especially as they also gave me a 12 month warranty.
The replacement turbo performs better than the OE turbo. It spools faster and has a considerably higher pressure. My boost gauge only goes to 30 psi and this new turbo at WOT quickly pegs the gauge. At low turbo speeds the new turbo has a slightly increased whistle that sounds like a soft police siren in the distance, but It only last for a few seconds and quickly goes away once it spools up.
Tip: it is easier to change the turbo if the fender liner is first removed.
