When shopping for a front reciever I found one at 4 Wheel Parts that mounted high. It required removal of the tow hooks which was unacceptable to me. So I bought the hidden hitch. Yes the reciever peaks out from under the bumper but It's just the right height for my "angler basket".

I know on the standard Ranch Hand Front End Replacements (non-winch ready)...you maintain the stock tow hooks. They all include a Receiver hitch as the same height as the frame of the truck. Pics in my gallery.

My tow hooks had to come off because my RH is winch ready. But if it was the standard RH they would have been able to stay. This true of the Bull nose or Legend series.

I know you didn't mention a front end replacement, but that may be an option for you to do what you are trying to accomplish.

Front hitch

Hidden hitch makes it's #5020 . I believe is the # for it and it works grate. I also put my cooler rack up their for trips to the Outer Banks for beach Fishing. I also made a receiver hook up for my winch slides right in For pulling the Dords Trucks back out from were they should not be in the first place Like in the Surf. And yes it has happened. All that salt water.

How was the install on this front hitch? Do any holes need to be drilled?

I did the warn version and it didn't require any holes to be drilled. I believe it mounts to the same spot as the tow hooks (which I don't have) so I don't know if you could use both. Basically you pull the bumper and everything is right there. Mount up the hitch and then reinstall the bumper. You'll need someone to help you line up the bumper again or you may be able to use a jack. The mount is a little lower than I'd like, but I use it for my winch anyway.

I bought one. Like that it Mounts high, does mount to the tow hooks. Who cares. you can still tie onto a mount from the receiver. 5 min. install.

Those are slick except for the 500 pound max tongue weight.

They are built fairly stout. I think the tow hooks must be the weak link.

I was looking for a similar front hitch but coulndn't find one I liked... so I decided to make a pair of 2" receivers that replace both of my stock tow hooks. Now I have the option to mount a trailer ball or receiver shackle adapter and I am planning to fab up a beefy front cargo tray that slips into the receivers. My front spare tire mount also fastens to them.
Here are a few pic's...
Cheers
Mark

We just bought a newer bigger trailer, I may need a front hitch to get it into the back yard (I don't know yet) but it has a 1000 pound tongue weight.

I have had well over 1K on the front of mine for similar maneuvers.. I don't think its an issue...
