Well after a life of GM trucks, Jeeps, etc...I bought my first Dodge and diesel last weekend and found this site this week. So far I spend more time in performance section but with only 500 miles on truck so far I got a bit to do before I get into any serious stuff....

I bought a 2006 2500 Quad Cab 4x4 CTD Thunder Road edition (Inferno Red Pearl Metallic) with locking rear differential, auto tranny, 3.73, SIRIUS radio, fog lights, forged alum wheels, 265x70x17 rubbers, tow package, etc.

First thing I am doing is putting LINE-X in bed then side bars with steps, husky liners or the Mopar style, and chrome bug deflector on front.

My initial mods I hope will be simple until I know the truck and what I like or not better. 33s or 285 tires next to replace the freaking all season tires that came with it unless I can get my buddies ATs that came on his Laramie that he has already repaced with 35s. Then a better breathing intake filter, chrome tip for pipe and then maybe a chip upgrade like SuperChip or something.
Looking for increase in power and performance without having to mod tranny and without worrying about heat problems for now. Mileage is also a concern but if I can get into the 20s I will be happy. Right now getting 14.1 in city traffic driving and about 18.1 on highway or long lonely country roads. So another 3-4mpg on each is my goal if realistic. So been reading and soaking in all the information...

So after I am done reviewing past threads....and the newness wears a bit on truck...look for me to ask a few questions about gauges and mounts, if AMSOIL SYNTHETIC for diesels is as big a diff in a CTD as it was in my other vehicles and motorcycle, and other dumb questions from a newbie to the world of diesel power and performance and Dodge Trucks.

oh...where the &$%% is the so called THUNDER ROAD Edition badge located on the trucks...Ihave yet to see a single THUNDER ROAD truck here in southeast that has anything that says ThunderRoad except on the window sticker....LOL...but have seen BIG HORN badges....

What he said! Also I'd hold off on on getting a superchips. I had a bullydog powerpup on my 03 and enjoyed it. I'd look into EDGE, BULLYDOG, TST before looking at superchips and banks. Have fun and good luck with the rig!

WAY on down the road I'll get a box...Right now I am seriously leaning toward Quadzilla.....Good comments from everyone around here that has it, and Quadzilla posts here frequently....I like that he is available here...I dont see anybody from EDGE, Bullydog, or Banks posting
