this is for the guys who didnt let their truck break in and added a chip from the getgo, i was one of those guys too and i had a rattling 04.5 cummins, reason im asking is that i have friends who went 20k or so miles before a chip and their engines are quiet like they are new and mine is noisey, listen to your engines, for the ones who bombed their truck from new lets hear it.

 

i get some kind of injector knock but thats about all i can hear cuase ive got a strait pipe.

 

my 04.5 had a bdpp since 1000 miles and I traded it with 36,000 never got louder. Its weird you say it because the techs I have talked to say they get louder if you leave it stock and let it idle to much.

 

When I added some timing with the Rokktech sensor my engine became a little louder, especially when cold. Adding the EZ created some more noise. Still not like the older 12v or 24v though.

I had some injector noise when I put mine in around 26k miles. I cleared the noise up with diesel kleen. I put in half a bottle for my 34 gallon tank which is a little more than they say to use but it worked great and my engine is quiet again.

 

maybe it was just my last truck i had a 04.5 but i tortured it right from the get go, even took out a turbo as i was testing all kinds of unproven chips for a large diesel shop here, seen 1700degrees too often i guess

 

I just started using a chip at 35K. Mine engine got louded as it gained mileage. My neighbor has an 06 and it is much quieter. I've read other posts that claimed the same thoing. So I think it might be normal. If you haven't tried the Power service (16oz) and the Marvel mystery oil (4oz) combination now might be a good time.
