Electric Exhaust Cutout ???
I saw this on one of the car shows on TV today and it got me wondering. The sales pitch goes something like.... "Remember when you had to get on your hands and knees to take off the exhaust cutout cap to run wide open?"
Anyway, they put an electrically controlled butterfly valve in place of the cap. Now, when you want to change from muffler to straight pipe, you just hit the switch on your dash and the butterfly opened and dumped exhaust right there. Seemed to work well.
I'm wondering if there would be any benefits to running one of these besides making a lot of noise. I suppose the turbo could spin easier with less back pressure. Would that help reduce EGT when hauling a load up a hill? Help spin up the turbo quicker?
