does the EGT temp probe clamp thing consist of 2 pieces, the part that threads into the exhaust mainfold and the outer clamp piece? or is their a inner part i am missing?

 

yes, there's two piece, the one's I've seen anyway. One part is inserted into the manifold and the other part ( the probe ) screws into it.

 

hmm, the probe wont tighten down when i tighten the outer piece.

 

are you sure the probe isn't not bottoming out in the manifold ? Some probes are really long and will do that. Other than that... stripped threads is all I can think of.

 

their might be a different style, mine has the probe, then the part that threads into the manifold, then a 3rd part that is suppose to clamp the probe in place, at least thats what i think its suppose to do. their are no threads on the probe itself.
oh, its a ISSPRO guage if that helps.

 

hmmm... haven't seen that kind. Did the probe come from Isspro too ? If so, I've had several from them and they all screw in.

figured it out, thier is a small compression fitting that clamps the probe when you tighten the outer piece to the inner one that is threaded into the manifold.
also and mine looks exactly like the one pictured.
