Dumb Commander question
Dumb Commander question
I got a commander and am running it just as a gauge (no box) I also bought the FP kit. With the FP kit there is a harness that has two single wires with male connectors (one green and one brown). It also has a hoop type connector. The hoop goes over the FP sensor ... the question is ... are the other two wires redundant as I am not running a box? I think these things are supposed to tie into a programmer? It mentions a couple of wires from a harness I dont have (xt or something)
By the way ... a word to the wise ... if installing the FP kit ... first take the black cover off the throttle connection. This will give you enough room to work on the Banjo bolt and see what you are doing ... otherwise you are putting a steel bolt into an aluminum casing. I stripped mine slightly turning it by hand! I am having to clean it up with a tap
I wish the instructions had mentioned this ... an extra couple of minutes to see what you are up against.

Just curious, but are you installing the old veresion FP kit or the new FP kit?
I was told the new FP kit was not going to be released until the first week of July.......if you have the new kit, that is

my fp sensor wire was yellow with a tracer , be shure to use a oil pressure gauge line kit and a snubber on the sender or it will fail quickly it can not take the pulsation of the pumps
I was able to finish my install. Cleaned up the threads with a chaser. I have the old model of FP sensor, I talked to the help desk and they told me the old sensors have warranty so if it fails send it back.
I installed the sensor and tied the green wire into the rail pressure sensor. It is reading my lift pump pressure and my rail pressure just fine ... I will see how long it works based on what others are saying ... but so far it works great ... touch wood!
