Drag Racing with a 6 speed

This saturday I am going to run my truck down the strip for the first time in Bristol, TN. AKA Thunder Valley! I was just looking for some advice. Should I start in 2nd or 3rd? Also I would like see some posts of your manual trans drag times. My goal is 13.9, is this possible with my mods? I have never seen a manual trans truck race before. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

I start in 3rd and slip the clutch. I use rpm to carry me out of the hole and then I'm off the clutch by the time the boost spikes. Works out well with my 2wd. You can probably get more aggressive with your truck in 4 hi.

I ran a 13.9 with stock turbo and stock injectors fuel only.

Man 13.9 is not too bad for 2wd hand shaker, especially with the just a programmer.

I ran the truck yesterday, and after a few practice passes I ran a 13.7 @101 mph on my 4th pass. That was with a horrible reaction time and I waited a little too long to shift from 5th to 6th which caused the truck to redline and defuel. This was the first time I have ever been on the strip. I think with some tuning and practice I could reach the high 12s. I must say it was fun destroying that RX8!

It takes a lot of practice to get a stick shift diesel down the strip. 13.7 is a great number for your first time down.

The truck needs some tuning. It wasn't pulling like it should at the end of the track. Next time I'll pull the 35s and use the stockers. A 2.1 60ft is pretty impressive for 2wd. My 60 was 2.10, mr RT was a horrible .652 I must have been asleep!

I dropped 4/10ths off my time going from 35's to 265's....However (it dont seem right) I still pulled 1.66 60' with either combo. And saw no HP gain, but almost 65Ft/lbs TQ increase with the smaller tires...same DYNO same operator.
