difference between the 2004 motor and 2004.5
im tryin to get rid of my banks and i have someone that wants to buy it but im not sure if his motor is the new 610... it said on his engine that it was manufactured in may 2004 and im pretty sure its the 610 but i think one of his sensors is in a different spot. but its the same sensor. i didnt get to take a long look at it but maybe there is something written somewhere that can tell me whats what... thanks
Any truck built after Jan/04 will be a 600 series. If you want to verify there should be a sticker on the drivers side of the valve cover that states engine serial number as well as build date and engine HP. If it says 325hp then it is a 600 series. If it says 305 the it is a 305/555. But starting Jan/04 (truck build date) was the date that all 600 series trucks were started.
The '04's are 305/555 rated and the '04.5's are 325/600 rated. That's not the only difference though.... the '04.5's have that wonderful 3rd injection event to keep emissions low.
I would call your beloved Banks and ask them if the product is compatible with the other truck. You might actually get to speak to someone this year since it is only late February....
