OK so a few months ago my lift pump went bad. I had no choice but to drive it a few days until a replacement pump came in. All was well until a few days ago. The truck will start but has a lope to it. I can watch the Rail pressure go from about 5500 to 3500, sometimes it will drop lower than that and die. Starts back up no problem.. It doesnt do this all the time tho. Not getting any codes either. What do you think could be the problem? Thanks Daniel.

 

Bad fuel control actuator (FCA). It's basically a fuel regulator, and if it sticks on the low fuel side, it'll cause engine surging and a lope. At higher rpm's, it causes a power loss.

Dealer wants over $200 for one, Cummins is half that.

 

Havnt really noticed issues on top end. Its always at idle or when I'm idling through a parking lot it will sputter. That's alot cheaper than putting a pump on it.

 

replace the FCA as stated
