I know what you're saying because I've got two watercooled turbos pumpin' some heat... but the truth is I have towed with 500+ HP (guessing maybe just a little over) and couldn't really tell a difference on the temp gauge from what I would normally expect (with the old twins and 500 hp) which is about 210-215 going up a 6% grade (no matter the length) at 70 mph with 10k in tow. Ambient temps about mid 80's. Cruise temps stay right at 195. Highest I've seen period was about 225 with some serious flogging.

Just curious, what would one do to provide the extra cooling needed to run that much power?

Misting the radiator along with water wetter is two that I can think of right offhand but are there others that are feasible on these trucks?

LOL, the factory gauge for water temps LIES!

I have an Isspro in the head.... and even towing at 380RWHP temps get higher on the gauge than what shows on the dash. As well, oil return temps are in the 280F range.... Water temp 220F

Back on topic, a 62/K31 would tow just fine. Probably top out on the dyno at 750.

62/14 over a K31 is an amazing setup.. LOVE mine.. and i cant agree w/ got juice on the top out number of 750.. it'll do more, just depends on your tuning ability... but u can fully adjust the wastegates on both turbos w/ this setup to however is comfortable w/ your towing needs... really, a great setup...

MPI 62/65/13ss S400 kit would be a sweet towing set up , although 700 rwhp may be a stretch , but 600 rwhp + should be fairly easy with programming on kill

turn down settings to 450 or so for towing & this should make for a great all around setup IMO

give nathan a call I bet he will tell you straight out what turbo combo options that will fit your needs !

Your right about that.I have an Isspro tranny temp gauge plumbed in the head and it consistantly goes to 220 when towing 10k+.

You probably have it plumbed into the same place as mine.

Next, do an oil temp gauge, that's enough to scare me off the throttle

No one has really towed with 500+....

Pedal to the floor? That is the difference. I leave my settings on my daily of 650-670 and tow all day...but I never (well almost...lol) mat the pedal. So maybe I reallu only USE 300-400 hp.

Yeah, I did, just to show off and blow the doors off a few people and watch the reaction as you blow past with the big rv in tow... that is where I posted my observations from above. I know it is hard on the tranny, but you know how you feel the need to push the envelope of what you can do?

As far as the temp gauge goes, I make no claims as to its accuracy; I am simply reporting the observations made and it is an apples-apples one as it is the only gauge used. The point being I have experienced no coolant system related issues and the differences in coolant temps with the old twins vs new twins seems to be non-existant regardless of driving conditions. The range of temps have all been normal for the conditions.

Very much agreed!

But where to mount the cooler? It must be of significant size as well to provide the needed benefit.

Mount it where the Auto trans cooler goes (if your truck is a manual)

Get the brackets, and a good bar and plate cooler (SETRAB comes to mind first)

It wouldn't take much to drop the oil temps. Probably size the cooler without thermostatic control for a 12"x8" That way those of us in the frigid north would be ok.
