Compilation of Exhaust videos

Kind of an informative thread...

Here are SOME of the exhausts i have ran over the years.

I have ran 3-4 others not shown in the vidoes...straight pipe, 40" donaldson, 4" glasspack, 40" Donaldson combined with 4" MBRP resonator.

Right now i am running a stock muffler with no kitty 4" turbo back behind the rear wheel. Soon i will put the 40" Donaldson back on.

HEres some of my videos....make sure you read the descriptions...it gives you the exhaust setup and the date i shot the video.

I no longer have my 51" donaldson by the way...I actually blew a hole in the side of it???[guitar]

This is full factory piping 4" with my homemade cat delete. Dynatech split flow race muffler from summit racing. Stock everything, no smarty. Video taken 4-28-07

This is full factory piping 4" with my homemade cat delete. Dynatech split flow race muffler from summit racing. Stock everything except smarty set on level 3. Video taken 4-28-07

Stock Fueling, AFE Bladerunner Rokktech sensor and Winspeed grid delete. Factory 4" exhaust with no kitty and 51" donaldson to MBRP resonated tip, cold startup. Video taken 8-5-07

Heres another video of the same setup taken 8-11-07

51" donaldson w/ 4" factory piping, no kitty, 5" turndown tip from summit. Stock programming, video taken 9-14-07 Basically I added the tip to the exhaust above to help keep the soot off the truck.

This Is With smarty Beta 4 SW#1(no smoke), Helix II cam, 2nd gen exhaust manifold, 2nd gen intake manifold...Modified stock airbox and intake piping. HTT 62/65-12cm, HX-40 4" downpipe for a 2nd gen, MBRP 4" resonator into a 5" stack. This is my favorite but the digital camera doesnt really capture the deepness of the done. I had to get rid of it because the drone was unbearable towing!! Video taken 1-25-09

IF anyone else has some good exhaust videos to ad post em up!!

Hope this helps some of you all out.

I will get some video of my 40" donaldson...it is by far the best sounding muffler with no drone in the cab!

t-boe 06-22-2009 03:44 PM

I embedded them for you. Some goober had posted some profanity in the comments. Good sounding truck. I personally like the stack with the second gen manifold.

levigarrett76 06-22-2009 05:48 PM

thanks...sorry about that

yea that is my favorite too...my crappy digital camera doesnt really capture the bass in the sound....but the drone was terrible towing!

levigarrett76 06-22-2009 05:55 PM

i have one at my office with the 5" stack and 51" Donaldson, i think i have one with the 5" stack and 40" Donaldson somewhere, I w ill see If i can get them uploaded soon

I'd like to see the one with the 51" Donaldson. I'm planning on a 5" TB with that muffler. My MBRP is a bit loud for long trips.

levigarrett76 06-22-2009 07:13 PM

the 3rd and 4th videos are 51" donaldson with no kitty

rip 112 06-22-2009 10:13 PM

Good job posting vids man, I too like the 2nd gen manifold and will be doing that "mod" soon, that 2nd gen sound is killer!!!

levigarrett76 06-23-2009 07:27 PM

Thanks...I sat down and realized how many different exhaust systems i have built for my 2007. Figured it might help some folks out looking for different sounds!
I guest I like playing with exhaust systems...I have a whole shed of powerstroke and cummins diesel exhaust systems, random mufflers pipes and parts...along with alot of other junk from my rock crawler...I can tell I am getting older though...I am having trouble taking this stock muffler back off...quiet power is nice.

I will see If i can edit the above videos so the description isin the thread.

Anyone else with some info feel free to post up!! Maybe we can turn this into an Info/sound thread w/ video for different exhaust setups.

Sorry don't got the embedding thing down yet. These are all from when I first got the HTT put on, 4" MBRP to 6" stacks, Flo-Pro Twister Race Muffler. I have since added a second Flo-Pro muffler to my truck and it is now perfect, not drone whatsoever, but still pretty loud.

Nsomniac05 06-23-2009 11:17 PM

Thanks for the help embedding!

TexasCTD 06-24-2009 02:13 AM

I like the deep tone of the 51'' Donaldson! I may need to switch out my Magnaflow.[duhhh]

Add the missing parenthesis at the beginning and middle and end and it should work

I do too!! but the 40" has an even better deep tone, less of the raspyness

Thanks Cletus!!!![guitar] I'll get it down one day...

levigarrett76 07-05-2009 05:29 PM

anyone got some more?

levigarrett76 07-09-2009 01:36 PM

Decided to throw a straight pipe on today.

Just some pipe and clamps I had laying around the house, made a few hangers with torch and welder and wallah!

Its actually quiet...just drones at 2k rpm a little bit....everything else is pretty much silent in the cab cruising. I am going to leave it this way for awhile. Sounds AWESOME with the windows down when I nail it...

Sorry the video is so poor...

ENJOY!

levigarrett76 07-09-2009 04:47 PM

Some dry by's with the straight pipe.

Sorry for the overly professional camera work

rip 112 07-10-2009 01:12 PM

Sounds good, definitely gotta get on the roll on mine.

levigarrett76 07-10-2009 02:45 PM

I shot these videos to get you motivated!

drove 150 miles today and yesterday...still lovin the straight pipe!!! Doesnt drone near as much as some straight through mufflers I have run in the past.

Still not like the ol 7.3 powerstrokes where you could straight pipe them with no sound in the cab at all!

JaimeG 07-10-2009 03:06 PM

How do you think it would sound if you left the stock exhaust on with muffler and cat?

levigarrett76 07-10-2009 08:49 PM

This was with my same mods i have now, but stock muffler and a resonator in place of the cat that was about the same size as the cat....probably very similar sounding to if i had a cat on it.

Its crazy i cant see a difference in EGT's at all going from this setup to the straight pipe i have now

JaimeG 07-10-2009 09:19 PM

It sounds way better as it stands now.

dodgestang 07-11-2009 07:16 AM

Not an idling clip...but here is what my old 05 5.9 with a MBRP 'duals' sounds from idle, power brake, and then burn out (muffler, pipes, and 5 inch tips). I seem to have a lot of burn out videos of my rides for some reason ;)

kind of over exposed. too brite but ya can hear it.

levigarrett76 07-23-2009 01:44 PM

Heres another. Built a new system from downpipe back...Fresh 4" pipe, tailpipe hanger, two in front and rear of muffler and two after downpipe...very well hung..

40" Donaldson...same mods as always...smarty jr sw#3

NO drone at any rpm towing or cruising. Sure sounds nice with windows down

Enjoy

levigarrett76 11-15-2009 11:56 PM

Anyone have some more to add?

blackdieselram 11-16-2009 09:33 AM

I like your truck, very very consistent and fast! Do you daily drive it?

Yes it is my DD. Had it 5 1/2 years now and 112,000+ miles on it and well over 700 Drag Strip time slips.

I do have some issues with rail pressure and power loss that started around March. Have not had the time or money to really diagnose and fix what ever is wrong. Just turn down the power level and drive it normally for now[duhhh].

levigarrett76 11-19-2009 09:56 AM

Id say your truck is a good example of the isb cummins durability.

I would like to see a 6.0 go that many miles, that many passes at that horsepower level without cracking or blowing something, HAHA

Kepp them coming folks!!

I keep getting the itch to strait pipe mine again, but i know i will get tired of it the first time i tow again. But it just sounds so dang good, ARGHH

Can you guys tell me more about the 2nd gen manafold mod?!?! I REALLY miss the sound of my 98.5 eve i got my 03. So much in fact that i actually roll down the windows and turn down the radio when im near one at a stop light[duhhh] :)

What i miss the most is the sound of the wastegate opening after a hard throttle run and all the boost air screaming out the exhaust.

Both my trucks are/were straight piped factory exhaust but the 98.5 had more authority.

Thanks

Great videos BTW
