Ok as the title states I'm looking for a clutch. I got the smarty on and I can't put the power to the pavement... Everything I have read points towards getting a Southbend clutch. Not sure which one, either the OFE or FE but I know I'm staying single disc and I'm thinking I'll need the hydro upgrade. Pretty much I want it to be able to hold whatever I can dish out with the stock turbo/injectors... I wont be using it for sled pulling. Any suggestions would be great, and also where should I buy? Who has the best prices?

call peter at southbend. he will steer you right.
buy it through the dtr store, call lary with the sbc p/n that peter gives you.
i have an ofe that holds 543hp and 1191 ft lbs. thats more than it is rated for, but just lets you know how durable it is. tows great, no hydro upgrade.

 

is the engagement chattery when starting out with a heavy load towing etc??? or does it feel just like stock?

 

I heard the NV tranny doesn't need the hydro upgrade, but the G unit does... So the DTR store has the best deal going? I'm guessing Southbend doesn't sell to the public.

peter will sell to the public. but there is a minimum low price. dtr has it. same price from peter as well. but why not support the site?

levi, the feel is exactly as stock. the only time it chatters is when backing a heavy load and it takes me a bunch of tries to get it in there. if you do not ride the clutch and get her hot, smooth as silk.

 

I'll call up the DTR store... I'll support the site for sure, its been a huge help for myself and my truck!
