Which clutch should I get?

Hi all,

I just bought a smarty jr for my 2007 2x4 5.9 6 speed 2500. On SW#3 I'm getting a lot of clutch slippage. I switched it over to SW#1 and still will get Slippage in 5th or 6th gear if I get on it. The trucks got 115K on it so I'm sure the clutch would have been on its last leg anyways with or with out the smarty jr.

So here is my question with the following mods to the truck: s&b ram air intake & scoop, a muffler eliminator delete pipe, and the Smarty JR which clutch should I go with? I don't plan on doing any other performance mods I have a travel trailer that's about 10,000 pounds that I tow and usually have golf cart in the bed of the truck when I'm towing the TT. I drive the truck more unloaded then loaded.

I was looking at the south bend Heavy Duty Clutch Kit G56-OK-HD -OR- The Southbend Clutch Multi Friction Street Dual Disk 3250.

Would the Dual Disk be too much clutch for my set up?

Also compared to the stock clutch how hard will the pedal pressure be and how aggressive will the engagement be.

Thanks in advance,
Ryan

hey ryan, we just put the south bend clutch thats rated for something like 400hp and 800trq at rear wheels on our 07.5 dodge. our truck is stock, but i pull between 15,000-20,000 every day. the pedal pressure is just as it was stock. its a lil noiser getting rid of the dual mass fly wheel setup that was stock. the stock set up is just silly to look at. dont know why the manufacturer would put that under there other than for noise reasons??

I have a 2002 SRW, I used the South Bend dual friction DD, 3250. I've been very happy with it. Sometimes starting off in 2nd, it will get a little bit jumpy. That is due to my throttle, clutch foot coordination. Backing up empty on a hill can also cause a bit of a bounce. They don't like to slip very much. No problem towing my 11k 5th wheel. I have an exhaust brake, and my stock clutch was slipping going downhill, towing with the exhaust brake on. South Bend suggested the DD towing heavy with an exhaust brake. Give South Bend a call, they are very helpful and will point you in the right direction.

Ryan I have the 3250 DD in my truck the jump ness in 2nd gear take offs are solved by using low and when backing up a trailer I use 4 low which let's you just let out on the clutch and drive.

If your going to install it yourself read the directions thoughly and it is easy as can be.

It's also a good clutch for a daily driver
