Brite box install problem!

I got around to installing my new brite boxes with fog lamp control option today. I was surprised to find after installation the 20 amp fuse on the left box kept blowing when I switched to high beams. When I disconnected the fog lamp harness the headlights worked like they were supposed to (both high and low beams on). Lo and behold the female fog lamp plug on the left Brite box was wired backwards from the factory! After swapping the wires in the plug everything worked great, now when high beams are selected the fog lamps come on and the low beams stay on as advertised. So if any of you guys install these, and have problems with the 20 amp fuse blowing, you might want to check that the fog lamp plug is wired correctly. The correct orientation is black wire to black wire and green wire to brown wire when the plug and jack are connected.

How do you like driving at night with that setup? Big difference?? What bulb does it use in the main headlights?

Thanks, Wetspirit

It uses the factory bulb. They recommend against using anything of higher wattage due to the increased heat of both filaments being illuminated. I got one of the Brite Boxes with fog lamp control during the beta testing.... and LOVE it!

Unfortunately, however, I installed my Road Armor bumpers this past weekend and had to remove my fog lights. I will be installing two sets of lights in the new bumper soon -- PIAA driving lights and PIAA fog lights. I'm going to wire them up with relays to the Brite Box. When I'm done, the high beams should cause the brite box should kick on the low filaments, the driving lights, and the fog lights. I'm looking forward to this mod.
