Kertoncol,
Yes, the gauge and pillar pod came from Genos. The quality is very good.
It does take some time getting use the the dual format. After a day or so of driving it becomes second nature just to glance at the gauge.

The one on the A-pillar is an X-Monitor by BD-Power ( http://www.bd-power.com/ram/product....0Gauges&tt=ram ). You can get this one with any three readings you want, like EGT, Boost, Trans....or EGT, Oil Temp, Trans...or Fuel Pressure, EGT, Boost, pick any three. There is a chart available on BD-Power's web site that shows the different configurations they offer. Many vendors carry these and they run about $400 and up depending on what readings you get. It comes with the A-Pillar mount, but it is black and must be painted to match. The only thing I don't like about the X-Monitor is the numbers can be hard to see if the sun shines on it...kind of washes it out.

The other one is an Outlook Monitor by Bully Dog ( http://www.bullydog.com/products.pl?...k_Monitor-D-E- ). This one has lots of features and the numbers do not wash out in the sun. It displays 4 readings at a time. I use mine for two additional EGT readings, Engine Temperature, and highest pre-turbo EGT obtained. I also use it for the EGT based defueling and as a valet switch when the truck is in for service. It has:

-Automatic De-fuel on high EGTs (defuel temp set by you)
-Contains Speedometer Correction for larger tires
-Displays Boost PSI
-Displays EGTs
-Displays Engine RPMs
-Displays ICP PSI (Fuel Rail Pressure).......this one moves to fast to read usually
-Calculates and displays HP & TQ in 1/4 mile
-Calculates and displays 0-60 Time
-Calculates and displays 1/4 Mile Time and Speed
-Records and displays Highest Boost obtained (recall feature)
-Records and displays Highest EGTs obtained (recall feature)
-Records and displays Highest HP obtained (recall feature)
-Records and displays Highest TQ obtained (recall feature)
-Records and displays Fastest 0-60 Time (recall feature)
-Records and displays Fastest 1/4 Mile (recall feature)

What I don't like about the Outlook is the little joystick that you use to navigate and display everything can be picky at times. The boost is read from the MAP sensor which is limited to about 40lbs of boost, so if you push more than 40lbs of boost, the gauge will show it. It will stop at 40lbs (may be 42lbs, not sure). When it measures HP and TQ, it calculates this based on how fast your truck accelerates through a quarter mile of road. Since it can't know all the variables, I wouldn't count on it being 100% accurate. Still fun though. I believe the Outlook runs about $350.

There are some good vendors that sponsor this forum that carry both of these and can save you some cash. Just PM me and I'll tell you who to call first to check prices if your interested.

I could hit 1600+ in my truck a while back with just intake and exhaust on Level 2.
Quickly...

It was much happier on the mid setting...1400 max (towing uphill headwind up high in Colorado) till the Turbo and Auto were upgraded.

I too was able to hit 1600 without any trouble when I was running the stock turbo. The lack of timing advance can lead to very hot EGT numbers very quickly in the rpm range if you have your foot init. Be very careful without and EGT gauge.

Ya, not very hard to hit high EGT #'s. It's an excellent smoke box. My clutch isn't a big fan of it, but it's fun to play with.

I too find it hard to believe that the boxes that manipulate injection duration and rail pressure increase fuel economy and/or do not affect the overhead calculation.

If the ECM doesn't know that you are adding more fuel (by either duration or pressure), how can the overhead be right? I'm probably just missing something but maybe someone can explain.

I do believe in fuel economy increases through injection timing, that's easy to understand. I just don't see how you can add more fuel (especially all the black smoke/raw unburned fuel talk) and say that you're getting better fuel economy.

I could peg my 1600F gauge in about 3-4 seconds with my stock truck and VA on 2. Towing was great with VA on level one stacked with EZ on 2. About 1250-1300F max towing up a grade. After AK's BHAF system I could last almost 5 seconds on 2 and 1200F towing same locations.

Thanks for all the information. I'm definitely getting an EGT gauge, maybe the combo Westach with boost. How long does it take for the EGT's to go down after a few seconds with the VA on #2? Also, doesn't a 6 speed reduce the EGT's because of shifting?

I will post future mileage with driving conditions. I am second guessing myself about the mileage but I know that I 'topped off' the tank when I initially filled up and again at the end of the trip.

Thanks.

EGT's decrease instantly when you back off the throttle. I run mine stacked with and EZ on level 3. I usually leave the VA "off" while towing and let the EZ pick up the slack. I will agree with the others that this box gets HOT. If you wanna run it hard you'll be on and off the go pedal to keep the EGT's under control. Use some common sense and you'll be fine.0

Have you seen an increase in MPG with the VA only? I have running easy on the low setting with 3 fill-ups but need to run more to confirm. I'm happy so far.

C3.2

The box is fast, but hot because you have really stretched out duration with no timing advance. Or…maybe it is not as hot as you think on your truck (everyone's' is different) and you could be running it much harder and having a lot more fun than you have been. Just won’t know until you put a gauge on it.

Quads new box does max timing advance even on the lowest setting. I think it would work well to cool the VA and even give it a little more pep in the process. EGT gauge first though.
The C3.2 was my first box. It was smooth. I saw "0" mileage improvement. Power was ok,..but not spectacular and it was super hot,..the hottest box I've run.

Kertoncal,

Sorry, but I have never calculated my fuel milage with or without the box. I know there's a lot of guy's on this board that are hardcore when it comes to fuel mileage calculations. They'll be much more help than me. When she's about empty I just fill'er up .
