Bought TS MP-8

Just bought a TS MP-8. Will I need to get something to bypass the speed limiter now or will the MP-8 do the trick?

JCLeary 10-12-2006 08:22 PM

Nope, it'll just get you there a lot quicker...

Make sure you have gauges installed! Especially with a stock turbo.

By the way, have fun with the smoke!

BuckeyeRed 10-12-2006 09:12 PM

Ordered the guages 5 mins before the box!:) Was that an answer for I need a speed limit eliminator or Yes, the MP-8 will take care of the speed limiter??

RAT_03 10-12-2006 09:43 PM

how much horse does it add?

BuckeyeRed 10-12-2006 10:03 PM

100 horse is the claim.

JCLeary 10-13-2006 12:34 AM

On my truck it made well over 100hp. Closer to 110-115. And torque was way more than 250 over stock.

It will get you to the speed limiter a lot quicker. Not over it.

Gottcha:cool: Thanks

I bought a TS MP8 to stack with my Smarty...didn't work too well. Sold the smarty so now i have a 3 day old TS MP8 in the box in my living room.......

I cant use it since the Crazy Larry program modifies rail pressure by it self....

RAT_03 10-13-2006 02:42 PM

So if you have a Crazy larry you cant run the TS MP8?

oh sure you could....but its not wise.

the TS MP8 is nothing but a pressure box with some mild boost fooling and something else....(i know this because with it on 0% it is not in-effective, it still effects crazy larry...so much that i still had black smoke when the turbo was spooled.)

Crazy Larry already adds pressure. Too much pressure is a problem. relief valves wear out and some argue pressure damages injectors.

From the rumors and stories i've heard about those Smartys, I'de be afraid to even have one of those near my truck.

97360, I have been told by more than one person that the bully dog does not add pressure on any settins, sounds like a rail guage could be handy. Also you said some argue that pressure can cause injector failure, I thought it was more or less a fact?

Buckeye, what have you heard about the smarty that is bad?

I didn't want to say THIS IS FACT and then someone call me out. I was just being friendly. But yes as far as i am concerned, its fact.

I didn't like the fact that the crazy larry when stacked with the MP8 wouldn't clear up the black smoke even under full boost.

My buddy had what I thought was a Smarty on his Duramax, Then came to realization that Smarty doesn't make Mods for GM[dummy] Was something that sounds like Smarty or begins w/ an S I think. Heck I'll ask him tomorrow. Anyhow he said the mod was unpredictable. Truck would be running along fine then rpms would skyrocket sporadically and surge forward, took box off and ran fine again.
