can't wait to read about the complaints from some yahoo running the 4000rpm program on a stock valvetrain and scattering it all over the place and then wanting to know why it happened.

in no way am i bashing the smarty but i see this happening.

Well -- on the "other" forum... Bob says the 230 hp increase over stock shown was for the 305 HP engine. It was stock except for clutch and I think a 62/14 or 64/12... or something like that.

The question I asked was does that mean us poor 235 HP engine guys could get up to 300 extra ponies??

300 ponies on one downloader.... WOOT!!!

How about less smoke and good useable power down low for towing an 18,000-20,000 pound trailer? All this power is great, but what about the intended use of a "real" truck? I have a truck for racing and it isn't a diesel, I bought mine for moving weight. I just want less smoke when loaded heavy in the 1800 to 2200 RPM range. If not that how about making the Smarty adjustable to the truck rather than needing to adjust my truck to the smarty?

slicks,
there are many different software versions for different applications...this is why the smarty is the best bet in may peoples opinions. if that is not enough, there is a smarty jr with lower power levels that may be more up your alley.....keep researching the smarty posts and take a look at mads website. i'm sure they'll have a tune for your needs.

Right now I have the s04 06 as sent software on setting SW 1 and my trailer (41ft toyhauler) was black all the way down the side, and some inside. The EGT's weren't the issue, it was holding overdrive on small grades or mountains. The boost was only 12-15 pounds. I just feel the fuel tables are too rich for low boost(1800-2200 rpm). I can pull 15,000 behind my truck on SW 7 with no EGT issues, but smoke is ridiculous. Granted there are several ways to fix this, buying a bigger turbo blah blah blah, but a tune for heavy towing would be better and cheaper, and I can't be the only one wanting to tow heavy with their truck.

I already had to buy a shift enhanser from DTT to work around the way the smarty caused 1-2-3 shifts by 20 mph and flare shifts while towing. I kept waiting for the software, but never seen it. I just was hoping to see more useable software for using the truck for towing, not just horsepower wars on the dyno with other boxes or the best 1/4 mile times empty. What would impress me would be who can get to the top of an 11 mile 6% grade first pulling 18,000 lbs with out melting their EGT probe off or cause an eclipse of the sun.

You probably need to install the aftermarket injectors, stock turbo, mild TM version. That will get you what you are asking for. FWIW... I towed about 9k last summer, high altitude (above 4000 ft) in 104* weather, 6-7% long grades doing about 70-75 mph max egt 1300*. This was smarty sw 7 mod TM.

I thought SW#1 was just for mileage. It has quite a bit of timing. I don't know if I would tow with it.
