Is a bigger pick up tube needed in tank

I have ordered my tank vent and since the fuel system is apart also thinking of getting a FASS. I was reading somewhere of guys installing bigger pick up tubes in the tanks to prevent cavitation, is this something that needs to be done to a stock truck with possibly a Quadzilla race box added in the future or is the stock tube satisfactory?

Thanks

The reason guys are putting the pickup tube in the tank on 05-06 is because there isn't one there from the factory. Your pusher pump is in the tank. When you put a FASS system on you will have to drop the tank and drill a hole for a pickup tube.

The earlier models using the 150 GPH FASS pumps put a larger pickup tube in the tank to decrease the audible noise level.

I have a 95 GPH in mine and the only noise I get is the vent whistling once in a while because of the higher displacement I guess. Never did get an answer from anyone on that.

Is that something that comes along with the FASS or does it have to be bought seperatley. What happens with the factory pusher pump, leave it in the tank or pull it?

The pickup tube comes with the FASS kit.

The stock in tank pump just gets unplugged on the 2006 trucks at the tank and the 05's get a relay removed in the fuse block under the hood in front of the driver's side battery.

Go here http://www.dieselpp.com/ and then click on installation tab at the top and select the correct year model of your truck and what pump you want and you can read up on the parts list install.

Hey, no problem. If you have any other questions you can PM Diesel Dan on here. He works for FASS and they are a site sponsor and advertiser. Here is a link to a thread with his info in it. Good luck.
