Best option for +MPG?
Heres my question, would I see more of an increase in MPG if I got an intake on my truck, or if I put a programer on? Ive read diffrent posts and I have mixed feelings on what would be best. Before anyone says it, yes I know Im driving a truck and I know its not going to get "car MPG" but still, id like to see better then 15MPG highway! Anyway money is kinda tight so it would be one or the other.

I have experimented with a couple of different things so far.
1) Painless Striker One Module.----Increase in driveability---0.0% improvement in MPG.
2) LubeGaurd Bio Gaurd EOS. 1.2 MPG increase.
3) Magna Flow 5" full exhaust. (off road use only) Just installed but so far on three tanks of fuel it has gotten over 1.8 MPG better.
I usually get right at 15.6 MPG in in town driving. I hand calculate every tank.
The Lube Gaurd stuff I got for free, so I ran it for an oil change worth and mileage went up, when I changed my oil I didn't run it and my mileage went down. This oil change I am buying it.
The Magna Flow exhaust, I can tolerate the sound in Town but towing with a load, It's LOUD really loud. I am going to see if I can keep the 5" pipes and change to a Donaldson Muffler.
I have ordered a Smarty Jr, expect it any day now. After a month of running it I will post my unbiased honest notes. It will either work or not. I got no dyno numbers to prove, no swinging members that need to be bigger than others. Stay Tuned.

I've been adding 2-stroke oil (3/4 oz per gallon) for 3 tanks, then the 2-stroke and power service (3/4 oz per gal) every 4th tank. It seems to be working well. Last week I pulled my little cargo trailer (5-6k) from Austin to Tallahassee and back and averaged 14+ I got 15.1 on the tank from Loxley AL to Iowa LA (hand calculated).
The very biggest thing you can do for MPGs is to drive between 65 and 70, keep the rpms below 2000, it makes a huge difference! 65 will give you almost 1 mpg better than 70. Of course that turns a 10 hour trip into an 11 hour trip, but you can't have everything....
You could try a Max mileage module, some guys swear by them, I didn't find that it made any difference, in fact I will sell you mine, it's in the classifieds for 100 bucks.
The "smarty" will run you between 500 and 700 but some guys swear by them, you'll want to get a set of guages installed before you go smarty so you can monitor your egt's, fuel pressure,& trans temp, you don't want to tear up your truck. Good Luck....

I have tried the Edge Juice, Diablo Puck, Diablo Predator, and the Quad X2 all by themselves and in different stack combo's. The best I could ever get was around 1.5 MPG better. When I got the Smarty, I downlaoded the TNT on #7, RP2, TM2, TQ3 and Wastegatoff. This got me 22MPG on my last 3 hour trip to and from Albq. NM! I never got that before! Cruised at around 70-75 the whole way. This is hand calculated too! Overhead read mid 24's.

My A.R.E fiberglass flat cover picked up a good 1.5-2.0 mpg depending on speed, and 4.4 beta picked me up 1.5 with light foot. Going 75 I get 17 and going 60 I get 22-23. So the best answer is the one no one wants to here. Slow down. I am sure the 6 speed helps also.

I went from 17 MPG to 20 MPG all hand calculated. I was running the Quad X2 on the 65hp setting and slowed down just a touch. Under 2k rpms makes a BIG difference. Afterwards I changed to the milage tune. Have been getting a solid 20 for a few months now. With just the intake i got about about .5 mpg increase. i took a bout a month or so before the truck started to really respond positively on the mpg side after the X2 install. I went through the same thing you are going through only it didn't start at the 15mpg mark. For me it was a toss up for the X2 or the Smarty jr. I got the X2 here on the classifieds. really not sure why i waited so long. Good Luck to you.

original version of the smarty on sw5, 60 psi in 35" tires and 6 inch lift doing 75 and 80 and hit 100 twice passing really slow people in the slow lane, and I got 19mpg. Not bad for a lifted truck. and whats funny is my dad has a dmax 1 ton with bullydog and an air intake and he can only get about 15 to 17.
