Banks Exhaust Brake Eliminates Dual CP3s?

I'm having an exhaust brake installed (Banks) at a shop that has some experience in high performance diesel. The mechanic involved mentioned that the air compressor pump of the banks system will likely prevent the possibility of going to dual CP3s in the future - not enough room.

So if this in fact turns out to be the case, are there other options for bettery-than-stock high pressure fuel pumps and if yes, what are they and are they as good or better than dual CP3s?

the banks brake is junk and like the jacobs is old technology and is not very efficient. you want either a bd or pac the bd has a better compressor location than the pac and has less moving parts

The air compressor could be relocated elsewhere. It is a whole lot tougher to mount the 2nd CP3 in a different location.

...and I've been told that in -30 deg C weather (which we're having up here now) that the pac brake and bd are junk - I'd be fixing them almost every year...

And really, you expect me to ditch a $1500 purchase in the middle of it's install?

If you read my post better, I'm not looking for people's opinions on the banks. What I asked was: are there other option to dual CP3s and if yes, then what are they and how well do they work.

Ok, I give up....obviously people aren't "getting it".

I don't care about the opinions on banks or any other brake system. I posted to ask about pump options OTHER THAN DUAL CP3s, and what the opinions are of the alternate systems.

post what part number you are getting so people can get a better understanding of how it is installed. is that particular one electronicly actuated or psi actuated either via pressure or vacuum? if there is a pressure or vacuum pump (that is belt driven) that has to be mounted in that area where a 2nd cp3 would go then you are hosed. if it is a pressure pump that is electrically operated tell them to mount it elsewhere and run longer wires/hoses to the actuator that way you can get a 2nd cp3 on there.

You can always get a CP3 upgrade like offered by Industrial Injection and Wicked Diesels. They'll give more fuel than I'll ever need!

I think that's the answer you're looking for.

dave b has the best idea then if you want to mount the very prone to failure banks pump that will leave you stranded when it locks up you can.

Sounds like you got a unit that works off of vaccum instead of air pressure. Up in your area I would say that is a wise choice. No chance of moisture to get into the system like an air pressure system and we all know what that does in the lines up there, it freezes.... The Jacob and the Banks both use the same vaccum pump. They go where the additional CP3 would go. This means you will just have to upgrade your single CP3.

And no single cp3 will beat duals. Not yet any way. I have a Floor it stage three which was good to about 800hp. If you feel you need more than 800hp, then you probably have no use for an exhaust brake anyway.
