AUX backup lights

Looking for some pics of backup lights, and brand lights you used.
I was thinking of just using the tractor lights and mounting them into the bumper, but I am sure someone has something much nicer.

I don't have any pictures of mine, but I have mine on either side of the hitch and wired through the 5 pin connector on the bumper itself so they come on when the truck is in reverse. Any 12 volt light system would work that way. All my trailers use the auxilery 4 pin wiring under the bumper, so if you have a use for the 5 pin with a fifthwheel you would be SOL without a secondary splice into the actual trailer wiring. I am using 100 watt halogen off road lights from good ole Walmart. They are angled down and out so they are perfect for me backing up my boat into the lake... Man I wish I was there now. But I digress. I have no complaints on brightness either. Just my $.02.

I got some pics in my album. You could use what every type of light you wanted but what I did was use a water proof 3-way switch and tied it into the wiring for the hitch plug. One side to 12v and the other to Rev. I leave it on the Rev setting unless I am loading my trailer at night and then I switch it to the 12v setting. Works great. I have some cheap lights mounted to flat bar steel then bolted it to the bottom of the hitch and angled them in the direction I wanted.

i have the white knight on mine. love it. plugs right into the trailer adapter connector under the bumper. the pic in the catalog shows the assembly completely under the bumper, doesnt work that way on my factory hitch. there is a piece of 1/4" plate from the bumper to the top of the hitch as a gusset for using the hitch ball on the bumper(why on earth would you do that when there is a class4 hitch under it?) that prevents the light assembly from going completely under the hitch. still looks/works really good though. I like that you can reach behind the lights and flip the 3 way switch to leave the lights on without the truck running or in gear. makes hitching up really great in the dark. also stops idiots from creaping up on you at stoplights when they are reading the paper, putting on lipstick, talking on the cell, using the laptop. when the whole inside of their car is filled with a bright blinding glare, they find the brake pedal again.

I have had my White Knights for about a year now. They tap into the 7pin wiring harness and are pretty easy to install. They have worked fine and do light things up at night well. The down side as stated above and they require a longer receiver insert because they stick out over an inch from the receiver. The case covers part of the safety chain hole and you either add snap rings or trim the case to have easy access to connect safety chains. I installed them for a quick fix and figured they would not last long for one reason or another. Me backing into things, etc., but they are still there with no damage yet. I have another set, full wiring harness, relays and switches to install when/if these get nuked.

if you decide to buy "tractor" type lights i would suggest using the hella dual beam oval work lights in the flood pattern, you can look at mine on my flatbed in my gallery, trust me if you use your truck working or backing trailers at night, these things work, they are bright, and best i've used, i bought mine from www.truckntow.com, good source for stuff like that...
