Anyone running Power Wagon wheels/tires?

Or am I gonna be the guinea pig? I just picked up some brand new takeoffs and they are sweet. Here's a pic from a magazine.

I'm selling the H2 rims/tires Saturday and picking these up Sunday. As long as there are no problems with the rims and fitment, they will be on by Sunday PM... :D I actually wanted 285s when I got my first 315s a couple years ago but the 285s cost a bunch more back then. I think I'm gonna like the 285s....

Heads up. The 285s that come on the Power Wagons are load range C, not D.

Dodgezilla, I was wondering the same thing. Where would I have to go to get a set? Were they a decent price? I'd like to get some Powerwagon flares also.

THose are the same rims that came on my Laramie... They are ALCOA forged aluminum...

cantfindaname 12-16-2005 08:27 PM

I thought the 05 rims were more like my 04.5s.

Dzilla, Nice rims!!! They should fit and look great on your truck. If they are load range C just keep an I on the fronts. ks

They sure look a lot like the Big Horn package wheels I just took off of my '05 2500 to put H2's on, because they (stock) were only 8 inch by 17's and 315's recommend 8.5 minimum to 10 inch wide rims. I thought about doing 285's but I got the H2's rims, tires, and all, 5 for the price of 285 tires alone. Thought I just had to try it. What is the problem with the 315's - it seems a lot of people are wanting to change from 315's back to 285's? Pic of the stock ones are in my gallery, after all the other garbage. Lots of pics of the H2's showing offset and protrusion for anyone interested. No way I will get rated truck of the month - mine is silver just like 999,000 others out there!

285/70R17 AT KOs are D rated aren't they?

Dodgezilla 12-16-2005 11:11 PM

I just checked several sites, including BF Goodrich's own site and they say the tire is D-Rated and has a 3195lb weight rating which is the same as the 315s. I'm sure they didn't take the tires and make a special low rated one for this specific truck. I think the Rugged Trail 285s are C rated.
The rims are similar to the polished alloys rims but not the same.
I happened to find these on E-bay. That's probably the only place you are going to find them except maybe a Power Wagon Forum like this.

They are D rated...trust me....if you look at miy sig or my pics.....i have an 05' power wagon....but i actually took those tires off at 1000 miles to put on 35/12.50/17 cooper discoverer STT's....and love em......But when it comes to fitting they should bolt right on....it is the same truck...let me know what ya think

Dodgezilla 12-16-2005 11:27 PM

Cool! Now you can sell me one of those 285s for my spare.. :D

DZ, I just put some TA 285's on mine and they are definately D Rated like you saw on the BFG web site. Same exact tires as the PW truck. The Rugged Trails don't come in a 285. The 265 Rugged Trails are E rated, but the same weight rating as the TA 285's at 3195. So far I am really happy with them. Make sure you keep the air pressure up to at least 60 though, or they will look a little squatty and rob your fuel mileage.

I also added the PW fender flares, and they look awesome. Kinda pricey, but nice addition. I got mine from the local dealer after we haggled a little on the price. You should be able to get 10 percent off or so, at least.

FYI TexasCTD ;)

I already have flares too. They are ATS but mine stick out further than the PW Flares

I swore when I looked at a new Power Wagon last January it had load range C BFG ATs.
I was drooling over the rims. :)
