Anyone running Power Wagon wheels/tires?
Or am I gonna be the guinea pig? I just picked up some brand new takeoffs and they are sweet. Here's a pic from a magazine.
http://4wheeloffroad.com/brandpages/...1_pow_04_z.jpg I'm selling the H2 rims/tires Saturday and picking these up Sunday. As long as there are no problems with the rims and fitment, they will be on by Sunday PM... :D I actually wanted 285s when I got my first 315s a couple years ago but the 285s cost a bunch more back then. I think I'm gonna like the 285s.... |
Heads up. The 285s that come on the Power Wagons are load range C, not D.

Dodgezilla, I was wondering the same thing. Where would I have to go to get a set? Were they a decent price? I'd like to get some Powerwagon flares also.
|
THose are the same rims that came on my Laramie... They are ALCOA forged aluminum...
|
I thought the 05 rims were more like my 04.5s.
|
Dzilla, Nice rims!!! They should fit and look great on your truck. If they are load range C just keep an I on the fronts. ks
|
They sure look a lot like the Big Horn package wheels I just took off of my '05 2500 to put H2's on, because they (stock) were only 8 inch by 17's and 315's recommend 8.5 minimum to 10 inch wide rims. I thought about doing 285's but I got the H2's rims, tires, and all, 5 for the price of 285 tires alone. Thought I just had to try it. What is the problem with the 315's - it seems a lot of people are wanting to change from 315's back to 285's? Pic of the stock ones are in my gallery, after all the other garbage. Lots of pics of the H2's showing offset and protrusion for anyone interested. No way I will get rated truck of the month - mine is silver just like 999,000 others out there!

285/70R17 AT KOs are D rated aren't they?
|
I just checked several sites, including BF Goodrich's own site and they say the tire is D-Rated and has a 3195lb weight rating which is the same as the 315s. I'm sure they didn't take the tires and make a special low rated one for this specific truck. I think the Rugged Trail 285s are C rated.
The rims are similar to the polished alloys rims but not the same. I happened to find these on E-bay. That's probably the only place you are going to find them except maybe a Power Wagon Forum like this. |
They are D rated...trust me....if you look at miy sig or my pics.....i have an 05' power wagon....but i actually took those tires off at 1000 miles to put on 35/12.50/17 cooper discoverer STT's....and love em......But when it comes to fitting they should bolt right on....it is the same truck...let me know what ya think
|
Cool! Now you can sell me one of those 285s for my spare.. :D

DZ, I just put some TA 285's on mine and they are definately D Rated like you saw on the BFG web site. Same exact tires as the PW truck. The Rugged Trails don't come in a 285. The 265 Rugged Trails are E rated, but the same weight rating as the TA 285's at 3195. So far I am really happy with them. Make sure you keep the air pressure up to at least 60 though, or they will look a little squatty and rob your fuel mileage. I also added the PW fender flares, and they look awesome. Kinda pricey, but nice addition. I got mine from the local dealer after we haggled a little on the price. You should be able to get 10 percent off or so, at least. |
FYI TexasCTD ;)
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...87TR7RUGTTAOWL I already have flares too. They are ATS but mine stick out further than the PW Flares |
I swore when I looked at a new Power Wagon last January it had load range C BFG ATs.
I was drooling over the rims. :) MikeyB |
i too like the PW rims... but up here in canada, getting factory take off wheels [for dodge or H2] are hard to get/find and cost arm&leg&first born...

So what is the best place to find a set? Would I be able to go into a Dodge/Chrysler dealership and get a set of takeoffs? I really do like the PW wheels better than my stock wheels and will buy a set if I can find them. As long as they don't cost more than a set of namebrand aftermarket wheels. Plus I know I wouldn't have any problems with backspacing. :)
|
nope...they are D's all the way....sittin here looking at them........lol
|
Yep, D everywhere I say em. D'zilla they will look great on your truck. White Lightning... that is one nice truck for going to the woods. [coffee] ks
|
Picked them up this afternoon and they are sweet!!!! Just like that picture I posted. Plus the tires look like they haven't been driven on.
I delivered my rims to Charlottesville, Va which is 144 miles away then drove to North of Baltimore to pick the PW rims up. Man! I put 500 miles on the truck today. It's a shame that I now have a full set of polished alloys w/ tires that I don't need anymore...... [whistle] Of course I'll post pics tomorrow once they are on........ |
Thanks.......i try to keep out of the "woods".....she usually just sees the skidway most of the time.....don't get me wrong i've had it buried in mud.....who hasn't....but i have an 8.5' fisher plow on it....and man that thing is a bulldozer.....it'll push side by side with my cummins.....until monday when the edge e-z module goes in....hehehehe.......i'll post a picture of the other truck real soon.....i have one of them side by side......except the diesel is a quad cab short bed.....same accessories,,......

I guess they do offer a 285/70/17 tire in the Rugged Trails. But looking at the link you posted from Tire Rack....they must be "C" rated or something due to the 35 psi max pressure and 2800ish lb load rating. Those must be for 1/2 tons, im guessing. I just remember when I was looking for tires, I wanted to replace my Rugged Trails with the same but bigger tire and there were no options at the time.....so therefore went the BFG AT 285's KOs. Anyway, I love mine and I am sure you are going to love them too! I am looking forward to seeing your new pics! Also, I like your ATS flares too. I have just seen the Power Wagons up close, and like the look, so I decided to go that route with my flares. Both look great. |
Wow, I've never seen BFG Rugged Trail 285/70/17. Those wouldn't be alright for a 3/4 ton? My dad runs 2400lb. rated tires on his Superduty and they seem to do just fine.
|
I think those Rugged Trails are for Toyotas or Nissans. I wouldn't trust them on one of these trucks with a load on it. I saw a cheap set on E-bay a while back and I almost bought them until I looked them up on tirerack.com...
|
Wheels are on and pics waiting for admin approval. These rims have wider spokes than the standard alloys and it looks like they have at least .5" less backspacing also. They stick out about .5" more than the standard alloys...
