you can find much better than Banks, they may have the fastest diesel, but its sad they had to put it in a dodge dakota cause their system couldent handle a full size truck...........how come every one on this third gen. forum likes banks?

I've got a 3rd gen and I don't much care for the banks kit. A friend of mine has the exhaust, intercooler, intake, gauges, six gun with speedloader. My truck with a K&N, replacement muffler and missing kitty, and a Quad std box will run right beside his truck. Oh yeah, his is a 6 spd. 4.10s on 265s and mine is a 6 spd 3.73s on 35s. He has over 2 grand in his. I have $650. You can't convince me the banks is worth it.

I've got everything except the intercooler kit. I've been very happy with their stuff, though most here don't like it much. I honestly think it makes a huge difference on what your looking for, the Banks system has alot of safety features which is great for guys who just want to get in and go, if you don't mind watching the gauges and you've got a really educated foot you can use any system. I started with a Tripple Dog and a Magnaflow 5" and quickly sold both and got the Banks, most of the guys I know run their stuff and we've had no problems with it whatsoever. I'm personally much happier with their stuff than I was with my old setup, the power is different than the BDDL but I like it considerably more. If your looking to build a race truck you'd probably be better looking at other choices, I'm a bit ticked that Banks says they won't be releasing their much advertised CVT turbo for the Ram.

I thought I heard that banks was working w/dodge the way they work w/ford. Might be just rumor but it would be nice to add some juice and not void the warranty. If anybody knows anything about this let me know. thanks. Oh yeah on my 03 I had 6 gun and high ram. It was great and had a lot of safeguards built in. Like someone else said not race stuff but if you work your tuck safety is a concern.

Whichever truck it's on, if the dealer can stick you with a repair bill they will. Seems like alot of techs are farmiliar with the Banks stuff and are willing to ignore it, I'm sure it's the same with alot of brands. The techs get paid either way, but everyone gets paid more if the owner pays instead of submitting the warranty claim.

As most are, I am very happy w/ Banks. I have had issues, but they were taken care of professionally. You will not see near as many failures or codes thrown as you will w/ the downloaders, just do a search, you'll see.

what kind of progammer did you have that threw so many codes? i have an EZ on my truck, i have never had a code, my dad has an EZ also, never had a code, my mom has a Van Aeken on her d-max, and never thrown a code, if you get a crappy programmer youll get codes, if you get a qualaty one like an edge or superchip, you wont get codes as easy, and when you guys talk about techs ignoring banks products and stuff and are you talkin about the techs at the dealership, cause ive noticed all the diesel techs i kno that dont work at a dealer dislike banks, and they seem to know a little more about performance than the dealer, also with all the safety added into the banks, wheres the room for power? im not tryin to star a fight here, just sharing info and opinon ha

EZ-not a programmer
Van Aaken-not a programmer
Edge Anything-not a programmer
SuperChips-there we go, but too new to know yet
BDDL-programmer w/ tons of issues, look em up.
That's all, just tired of the banks haters, again, w/o valid descriptive info on why banks is such junk and why they couldn't handle their purchased products, problems and situations like big boys and get anything done.

And yes we are refering too techs at the dealership, techs that aren't at the dealership have no effect on your warranty situation.

i figured the van Aaken box on the d-max was a programmer becasue it plugs into all 4 of the main wiring harnesses to the ECM and etc. i realize that like a superchip that u plug into your ECM port under the dash reprograms the computer and then you take it out, but it just seems to me that the van aaken box does the same without removing it, i may be wrong, im no expert, i do not like banks because i can find more for my money, plus their advertisements seem like they are stuck on their selves.
i kno the Edge EZ or any Edge is not a programmer, i kno the EZ is just a timing box, i was just giving som examples. like i said i am no expert, but i do have a little knowledge of what qualaty products are, and what to look for in products, banks doesnot impress me, im no mechanic but soon to be....next year ill be on my way to waco tx for diesel mech. school. i wasent tryin to start an argument, just giving my opinion

thanks

Hey I'm new to this board but try a search " Banks" If not too good here try other sites like TDR.

WOW there are alot of unhappy Banks owners.

Click on this link MY Bank's Nightmare Story (not mine)
http://www.tdr1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115140

Also my info may not be up to date but Banks is/was on TDR for a bit and make a total AZZ of himself and his company. I believe he was talking about sueing people of something for bad mouthing his product.

Honestly I'm not 100% on all of this maybe someone who is more informed will chime in.
