I'm trying to get the silencer ring off my new truck,and I can't figure out how to get that snap ring off. Anybody know an easy way to do it? Hurry if you can, I'm trying to get it off tonight.

 

I used a small pointed tool, I think it's called an awl. Or a small flathead.

 

I used a couple of flat screwdrivers and worked it out of there taking my time and being really careful not to mess things up..

 

i used a pointed screwdriver and a flat head using 2 hands, put the flat head in the right hand and use it to pry one of the ends of the ring down and with the left hand sneak the pointed screwdriver into the gap, if u get it into the space then use the flat head and pry the rest of it out of the slot. Took me some fiddling but i eventually got it.

 

It can be a PITA to remove. I fought mine for about 10 minutes before giving up. Dranked a cold beer and went back at it. Popped right off! Go figure......
