I used a 4" 90 degree drain pipe elbow. Pointed at the passenger side headlight assembly. So far no issues, but I do have pantyhose covering the opening.[coffee]

I did the same as mikeyb. Check out my photos for pics...

Worked good for me. PM me if you want details on what I did, it cost me $6 or so to do.

You will not have any problems even if the down pipe was completely submerged in water, snow, mud, etc as long as the stock air box openings are NOT restricted!!!!!

If you have at least 2 (1 factory and 1 "custom") openings in your air box you CAN close one off 1 of them completely and still get full flow out of the other with out sucking up anything but air.

So, how did that system work out for you??

What are the bennifits to this mod? Are they noticable?

Nice set up, kawiram!

I noticed some MPG improvment. I also added a air raid drop in replacement filter, so I'm sure that helped some...

I used 90 degree elbow and shower grid to keep big stuff out. Run hose to stock foglight hole if empty. Or to fresh air supply if not. Makes the turbo whine, but not much HP or MPG gain.

I've havent noticed any extra anything other than actually being able to hear the intake, over the whistle and the straight exhaust. But I am currently running a stock replacement filter so I believe if you were gonna gain anything with this mod you'd need a better flowing filter to take advantage of the extra inlet. Theres a website that charges like $99 bucks to do the same thing and they claim it's main achievement is lower EGT's while towing.

You might want to drop in an Amsoil Ea189 filter I believe. Dry and better flowing.

kawiram 03-21-2007 11:28 PM

Thats the dropin replacement? Where would I find one at? TIA

annabelle 03-21-2007 11:43 PM

http://www.syntheticoilspecialties.com try here. Yes it's drop in.

If you wanna see what gain is possible, just go for a drive without the cover and filter for two blocks and then put it back on.

I live on the edge though. The purists should chime in here and tell you your motor will blow. I hope it doesnt, good luck to ya.
