5 Inch Exhaust

Ok, for whatever reason, I have it in my head that I want to redo my exhaust system to be a 5 inch pipe all the way, with a 5" in 5" out performance muffler. Any thoughts? Is this a waste of time? I have a friend who owns a muffler shop and he said he could do it, but he didn't really have any suggestions on a muffler.

The 4" exhaust is more than effecient for the mods you have listed and well beyond that. Sounds great straight piped as well. It is not a waste of time to go to 5" piping if you plan to go crazy with the bombing. If its looks, sound etc. you want from the 5" then go for it, wont hurt anything. Donaldson or Nelson has 5 inch mufflers. I know there are others that are more performance oriented. Do a search and see what you get.

Flo pro makes one. I have it. It's about as loud as straight piped, but not as raspy.

I personally love the straight pipe idea, but living in the city and putting up with the girlfriend have pushed me towards a little bit of sound reduction. I guess that's how I ended up a the 5" idea. Put a muffler on it, but give it a bigger diameter to achieve a greater flow rate. I currently have an Airaid intake and have plans to purchase the Bully Dog III. Those are the only performance mods that I have in mind. Thanks for the input.

That's what I run on my 305/555. Nice, quality system.

I guess that's the cat-back system from what your signature says. Any complaints? That stainless looks awesome!

Nope....it's a turbo back system....it bolts straight up to the turbo..... ....and for you 325/600 guys, it bolts straight up to your turbo as well, thereby eliminating the kitty. If you have access to a nice lift and transmission jack, you can remove the transfer case crossmember and drop your OEM system out in one piece.
