I just traded my 11 Ram in on a 05 Dodge Ram and was wondering about putting a chip/programmer on it. I had a 04 b4 the 11 and had a Edge on it and was happy with it but I know there's a lot of new ones out there just wondering what's new & improved. Does the ones with the screens do a better job? "change on the fly" interested in all opinions.
Thanks

I really like my Smarty because of being able to adjust so many parameters. The downside is having to reprogram for each level, but I usually just keep it on level 3. If you want a programmer, a Smarty is tough to beat. If you want a chip with digital gauges, I would look into Edge or Quadzilla.
I wouldn't buy from there. Marco and retailers have a contracted price meaning this guy is either not a certified dealer or breaking the contract. I bet they have no warranty. If you see a Smarty S06 or a Jr for less than 685 and 495, stay away. If a businessman breaks a contract knowingly, what does that say about his business practices?

I would suggest Smarty as well. It's true that you can't change on the fly...however, Smarty is 2nd to none with respect to quality, integrity, and customer service.
BTW: The newest update from Smarty (V5.14 on the Jr.) is REALLY NICE!! Quick throttle response, smooth power curve through the throttle, and less smoke.
Besides, I think you will find (like most) that once you find a setting that fits your needs you will stay with that setting on the reg. (Case in point, I know that my daily driving setting is "slightly" diffrent from what I tow heavy with. In this case, it is a simple 5 miniute update and I'm back in business).
*EFI is the bomb as well...however, it is a bit $$$ for me and a little more "involved" than I am looking to get with my performcae needs at this time.
Regardless of what you go with...make sure to get some gauges!
*Lastly, you might want to contact Lary Ellis at the DTR on-line store (this site) for additional suggestions/and pricing (again, your not going to find "deals" on the Smarty's...it's a set price that all vendors "should" be honoring!)
I have had the Smarty for five years now. I with the newest tune, it looks like everything's running ok. I had issues with an older tune.
I made 470/935 on the first 170hp tune that the Smarty came with. They say it's a 210hp tune now.
