48RE Shift Points with BFG315s
Hey everyone,
Before I upgraded my wheels and tires my tranny would make it's last shift at 49-50mph upon normal acceleration. Now with my current set up and having had the speedo reset by the dealer, my shift point is 54mph. Is this correct? The speedo is correct having tested it with my wife's car and use of cell phones. Just want to make sure this is normal with larger tires. BTW I have lost close to 2mpg with the tires but the look makes up for it. Check my pictures.
Thanks for any input, Jamie

I have your set up on a lifted 04. I too had the pinion factor corrected at the factory, however it did shift differently. I DID lose a lot of MPG but like you, liked the looks too much to do without.
Fast Forward two months. I towed my toybox full of ATV's and HATED the resulting ratio that the tires gave me. Lost almost 3mpg off of my towing calcs - went to 6mpg. Trying to tow almost 5 tons was a mess with the big boys on there. I finally switched to 4:10's and have never looked back. My milage is back up, and I actually tow a bit better. I think because the resulting ration is a scratch higher than the stock set up with my 3:73's. I was able to run the Baker Pass out here between CA and NV coming back from Dumont dunes at 68mpg in cruise control. Couldn't be more happy!
The gear swap was expensive, partially because the just came out with the front adapter for our big axles.
LOVE EM!!!!!!!!!
