4.5" fabtech lift, H2 wheels, and tires causing a horrible shimmie

I have had my lift with stock wheels and tires for about 7 months and everything was great. About a month ago I had H2 wheels and tires installed. Now when I am driving between 55mph and 80mph and I hit a bump just right I begin to feel like im doing 90 on a dirt road with foot deep potholes everywhere. When I slow it down to 40mph it stops and i go on my way. It seems to do it more often when towing a trailer. I have taken back to the shop where I had the wheels put on and he is stumped. Im taking it to another shop when I go home for a weekend from school but I would sure like to know if anyone has any idea what in the heck is wrong.

Maybe your wheels aren't balenced right...I would have to be in your truck to really give you a good answer. Im sure someone else will chime in with a better answer.

Those are classic death wobble symptoms. Check the alignment, wheel balance, steering stabilzer, ball joints, etc.

I had the exact same thing after my lift and it turned out to be a bad steering stabilizer that came with the lift. I got a quality dual stabilizer and no more problems

thanks fellas, I remember hearing people talk about the death wobble, but I didn't know it happened in the newer trucks. Oh well I guess you kinda ask for this stuff when you lift a truck an put hummer wheels on it

I had this happen to me the other day too. Over the past year or so I've read a lot of posts and there are three factors that seem to contribute most to the DW on the 3rd Gen.

#1 -- Caster is not properly set after suspension mods
#2 -- Worn ball joints / track bar joints
#3 -- BF Goodrich A/T tires <-- not a LR E tire, only LR D.

Good luck finding the culprit!
