yea, he has done it a bunch of times. He keeps most of the parts in stock. He explained everything i was going to have to do, sent me the parts and it worked out perfect. I think he does this fairly often at his shop

im pretty sure you have a 3rd gen turbo.. so just the longer cummins oil drain line, i dont know if the hx-40 pipe works for your turbo or uf yours uses the stock flange? but your going to have to figure it out. He should be able to help. You will need to shorten your hot side intercooler pipe around 2" make sure to shorten the side at the intercooler since you want to keep the neckdown to fit your 3rd gen style turbo and smaller boot. you will need another gasket for the oil drain line, i would get a set of manifold and turbo flange gaskets. And have a plan to fab up an intake.

since your keeping the 3rd gen turbo you dont have to buy some of the things i did

i edited my above post.

Including the turbo and everything to do the swap i have right at 2000 in it shipped to my door. Subtract around 1500 for the turbo, 35 for manifold that leaves $465
With that i bought the blue 3" silicone intercooler boot with clamps, cummins 90 turbo outlet elbow and clamp, turbo flange and exhaust manifold gaskets, and longer version of factory oil drain. And a cool keychain.

but all you really need are gaskets and oil drain, possibly downpipe?

Do you have Olee's number??? I forget you have a 2nd gen HTT on your truck, I guess things will be a little different. I'm hoping this doesn't cost too much, Found a good manifold for $75 (think I can find it cheaper?) and am prepared for the gaskets. Oil drain and downpipe questions I still have to answer...

has his number and everything. I used him because he was very helpful when i bought my cam. Plus he is fairly close to me and seems to be very knowledgeable.

If the flange on the back of your turbo is 4" (before the cast elbow) then the hx-40 pipe should work. But if i remember right the 3rd gens had a flange slightly bigger than the 4". I know someone figured it out in one of the threads about the 2nd gen manifold. Olee im sure can point you in the right direction. It may be cheapest (if you can weld) for you to just extend your stock downpipe and keep the cast elbow?

You can use the same oil drain as me, and i would highly recommend it. It is a cummins part, i believe off the 3.3 or something? It is just like our factory metal drain, but longer and it works perfect!

I searched for awhile and found a 2nd gen exhaust and intake horn for 75 shipped. But really just make sure its not rusty, not warped and not cracked and i think anything under 100 bucks is a decent buy.

Do you need any specific pictures? I have my intake off now and i would be happy to snap a few pics if it would help out?

Yea I'd like a pic from the intercooler side to get a visual idea. The elbow i have is actually the stock 3.5" elbow, but i believe it helps spool the turbo faster. I'm sure that will work. It'll just be figuring out how to do my downpipe since its all been welded. That shouldn't be a problem though.
Thanks levi!!!

I have been corresponding with Olee regarding this, and he said that I would have to get a 2nd gen turbo to make it work.

Those of you that have modified the HX-40 downpipe for this purpose, what did you do? I don't have the coin for a turbo at the moment.

2nd gen turbo makes it much easier to fit the intercooler pipe because of the adjust-ability of the 90 off the compressor housing. IT can be done with the 3rd gen turbo with the fixed outlet as well. Thats one of the reasons i went with the 2nd gen...other reason was if i were to go to twins it would be a little easier to fab the pipe

he told me he prefered a 2nd gen turbo for the swap but had done it with a 3rd gen a few times.

Yea I want to see the piping...

No offense but I believe my truck sounds rather menacing as is. But I think the 2nd gen manifold will really give it a sound unfamiliar to any ears...especially when they see whats doing it...

Its hard to say because at the same time i upgraded to my 62/65-12 turbo.

I have 75 in my 2nd gen exhaust manifold and 2nd gen intake horn. I thought the aftermarket manifolds were around 350-450?

I will hopefully find this out soon. Problem is I think my rp sensor is giving me signs I hate the feeling of helplessness not knowing if your truck is just gonna die out on you in the intersection...I don't want to talk about it though because I think shes listening....

but I imagine it will help spoolup abit, how much I don't know.
