Yuk!!!!!!!
Yuk!!!!!!!
About 4000 miles ago I installed my EGR block-off plates. 2000 miles ago I also installed a freezeplug in the inlet for the crossover tube because there was soot and moisture building up inside the EGR. Today I decided to pull my blockoff plates out as I try to figure out why I am getting a P0013 Cam Position code which, I believe, is causing a power loss on my truck. I was amazed that the whole EGR was full of this nasty soot/water mix. When I loosened the bolts and the EGR came loose, this nasty black stuff went everywhere and it was a real pain to clean up.
So, the thought was that blocking the crossover tube would keep the moisture away from the EGR. For my truck, this was not the case. Blocking the crossover tube, for me, was a waste of time....
Removing the blockoff plates did nothing to cure my code issue. Next step is putting the stock exhaust back on and reinstalling the intake butterfly.....

My big dilemma is which to worry about. Mileage or power? My mileage is great right now and the truck pulls my trailer just fine. That makes me want to just leave it alone. The Motorhead in me makes me want to get every last bit of power that I can out of it in it's current state (No power adders) and I am definitely down on power a bit. It won't powerbrake anymore like it used to. If I put my foot on the brake and the other on the go-pedal then it gets to 1800rpms and starts missing really badly. At 1800 rpms it is not even close to turning the tires over either while most guys claim that theirs breaks the tires loose at around 1700 rpms. This is the part that I have a hard time living with...
I know one thing for sure! I could not live with the 12.5-13 mpg I was getting before doing the deletes....

Maybe the turbo is clogged up with soot. Did it sound like you were making boost.
