Turbo and EGR cleaning warranty q?

My truck has 46k and just came back from the dealer for a hesitation issue and a front end noise. They had to clean the EGR/Turbo and replace the front drive shaft... I'm on my 2nd turbo and egr cleaning. How long is this service covered under warranty? Would capping the EGR and adding a smarty stop the soot from building up in the first place?

Well I am sure that the other Black-Tec fellas will chime in here soon, but here is my story very quick....Turbo cleaning every 6k for the first 24k on truck, code 2262 came on so many times my service manager are on first name basis, 30k new turbo, 30,050 smarty and deletes, 42k havent been to dealer since!!! Have been getting between 19-23 mpg (by hand)as well.

What deletes did you do? Did you unplug or cap the EGR?

Since I did the deletes have not had 1 CEL in 8 months. The engine oil stays clean for the first 2000 miles, in town mileage empty went up a solid 3.5 - 4 mpg empty. Towing it went up about 1 mpg.

A bit of advice, use the engine brake every time you drive it, it helps keep the turbo vanes from sticking.

Happiness is a smarty!!!! (I stole that quote!)

Everything is gone except the egr cooler, throttle valve, and muffler (which is next) going to go to a 5'' TBE exhaust.....I fought the urge to deletefor two years, wanted to save my warranty, but the deletes are the best thing I could have done. NO trips to the dealer, better fuel mileage, and the truck just flat out runs....

I'm tempted to just do the deletes now that the turbo is clean. We'll see what Santa brings me this year.
