Question The Regen Process

I was just wondering if on my truck if I should get a message on the overhead when the truck goes into regen mode? I am pretty sure the 08s have a message, but does mine? And if I dont get a message, is there some other way to tell when it does regen? Thanks

I believe Dodge does not want you to know when your truck is in regeneration.

It would be very easy to have this information displayed. They however choose to give us the mushroom treatment.

I got the latest reflash hoping to get the message center to show the Regen. No dice. The only way now is to watch my EGT gauge.

I think the overhead will only tell you about a regen if it previously warned you about a catalyst XX% full. Normal regens are invisible. No notification through the overhead. I've never had a regen message in 25k miles. The DPF is the only part of the emission system that has worked correctly on my truck.

Thanks everyone for your input. I guess regens dont take place near as often as what I think they do. I kinda figured they were pretty often.

They are probably happening every 200-400 miles, you just don't notice them unless you have a pyro installed. As mentioned before, the overhead doesn't generate a "regeneration in progress" message until it already shows the "catalyst xx% full" message and advises you to get on the highway for a proper regeneration. On your normal regenerations, you won't be able to tell other than monitoring exhaust gas temperature.

^^^ x2. When you get the message on the overhead you are a heartbeat away from needing to go to the dealer if it is not addressed by letting is complete its process and regenerate by driving...

New Truck

I was test driving a new truck around town ( I ended up buying it) Not knowing what this was when I was doing it... and it was raining ! As I pulled back into the dealership wondering *** regeneration was because ive never owned a diesel before I asked and they were like *huh* and shrugged. Now i get here and wonder if the regeneration was successful at speeds of about 30-40 mph. It said regeneration complete when I pulled back into the lot. I then proceeded to drive it from decatur to indianapolis and back to the il/in state line so I guess it was ok but I have no idea.

My '09 Owners manual talks about several messages on the overhead concerning regeneration. The information is in the small diesel supplement owners manual. I do not know about an '07.5 but check the manual. It may be something they added later as improvements. My truck is low mileage, 852, so I have not seen a message yet. I have read where it does not regenerate very often, just as needed.

I have an Edge Insite and it tells me when I am in Regen ... but ...

I do notice that when I am in regin and I come to a stop light/sign the turbo sounds winnier than normal and more like a jet engine slowing down. When I hear this sound I always see my Edge flashing the "Desoot" message.

My 08 has never shown that message.

It only shows on the overhead when you're one step away from a major issue and having to go to the dealer. Otherwise, the thing regens on its own according to how it is programmed.
